How often do we use our daily driven Defenders for 4WDing/4x4ing/OffRoading? (Engaging 4WD Low Range)

I've asked the Poll Question here as I feel the Defenders are a more unit specific type form of transport (not a Soccer Mums Car).

This Poll of corse is aimed at the Pleasure 4WDer & not the Commercially used ones or Bitumen Holiday Travellers.

No enough......my last two week week didn't require CDL, my next will use CDL high range but probably won't require low range.

Sorry cannot see the poll on the iPhone

My One Ten isn't one of those soccer-dad Defenders, so might skew the results a tad, but I voted anyway :)

Not quite sure what I should put,,,
Just having a 4X4 makes me want to go for drives :D,, but even though I might want to hit a track, I dont always get to on the day :(.

We dont use ours anywhere near as often as I'd like, as in out in the bush, or beach or wherever. But we do go for drives, and sometimes on those drives we might hit a dirt road or two, and maybe even a track.
When up home (Albury) I take the dog out to the weir just about every day,,, does this count,, I drive along the shoreline there,, mind you, Micks Merc could do that too, unless its wet ;)

But then, once a year at least, we get to do a big trip over the space of up to two weeks, with both highway and track miles included,, :D

I am not sure what is meant by "4WDing".

If you mean driving off made roads, this happens every time I drive from here - usually at least once a week in the 110 and most days in the 2a. None of your options include this frequently.

If you mean driving off road as a recreational pastime, rarely if ever.

If you mean driving in situations where four wheel drive is essential - several times a week between the two vehicles. None of your options include this frequently.

Hmm,
If you had asked the frequency of how many times I drove my defender because my ordinary town car would not cope with the terrain/load/conditions it would have been easier. One can even '4wd' (engage CDL) on a highway when conditions dictate it.

Like John and others, a bit confusing, our driveway is a bit rough, though no were near as rough as Johns, is difficult for some 2wd's. My nephew bottoms out nearly every he comes to visit:o OH I have never been a soccer mum, sports, yes but not soccer.

So I voted the best I could:)

To me one way of 4x4ing/4WDing/OffRoading is going slow in the bush using Low Range :burnrubber:

The Defenders have the same DNA as the good old One Tens:BigThumb:

A statutory number is not feasible for the question, a range would have been better (IMHO). I would fall into the 6-12 times a year category depending on circumstances, i.e. maybe six time one year and 12 the next or something in between. I have considered the poll and cannot participate in its current structure.

Mine goes off (made) roads fairly often but as far as engaging low range, well that varies ... depends where I go :) I find that the gearing in them is such that you don't need low range as often as you might in another type of 4wd

Mines only registered in winter and really only used shooting fishing firewood cutting so every time I drive it it goes off road pretty much

I'm sure we have more than 51 Defender Drivers out there. How often do you go 4WDing?

Due to certain circumstances I haven't been off road since end of Jan but heading out with two other members on 16th of this month. Before that it was every weekend full off road and mostly low range. From this point on it will be every fortnight.

Everyday last year on our drive to Australia! But now I just use it to commute :( I find your gravel and dirt roads here don't need low or CDL so imagine you have to go WAY out to drive something requiring low range.

Back home in the UK I would have said once a month but here I am not so sure :D

I suspect that in the restricted sense you are using for 4WDing, most never or rarely do. Strictly speaking, I don't own a Defender - I own a 110, made several years before the Defender name was invented, anyway!

A bit restrictive in the categories I think. I use mine for various , working on the property, hauling a trailer of stuff, long distance runs when I need to carry more than will fit in the Disco, etc. But most 4wd would be what you call commercial, eg business work on property. Ask how many cruisers in mining employ use 4 low and see, not many!
But I use mine in 4 low maybe 4-5 times a week.
Cheers Scott
