My Haflinger has an aftermarket electronic igntion system adapted to fit my engine that uses the dizzy shaft (minus weights) as a crankshaft position indicator and the advance is computer controlled. At idle advance is spot on at just under 10 degree but at 4000rpm it is nearly 50 degrees where it should be about 32 degrees. I am ripping this out and reverting out to the points dizzy system for the moment to get a tune up of the carby sorted. The timing needs to be sorted before the new carby I have can be set up as it is very rich at the moment.

The electronic ignition has a coil pack and I need to replace this with a standard type coil however I do not have one and need to get something quite quickly.

So can anyone recommend a general purpose 12v coil that I can use - there is no ballast and the dissy is a standard points system with condenser. In due course I will track down the correct version but I need something that will work sort of now.

Thanks

Garry

I bought a Bosch from Supercheap not all that long ago.

I got one from Repco a few weeks ago. Just ask them for a standard non-ballast 12v coil.

Thats what I would have thought but when you look at the Bosch catalogue there are so many different versions.

I know the Bosch GT40 works on my jag and 101 so I might just get one of them.

The GT40/GT40R is a good coil. It's my coil of preference. Didn't think they were still made.
