View Full Version : Td5 Engine Supplier/Reconditioning and whats my 300Tdi Engine worth

Hi,

I am seriously considering pulling my 300Tdi engine out and replacing it with a TD5, my current engine specs as follows:

Turner Engineering (UK) reconditioned Long Engine
New Head
New Injectors (not reconditioned)
Variable Vane Turbo
Reconditioned Injection Pump
All new ancillaries (PAS PUMP, 100amp Alternator)
New high torque starter motor

Engine has covered only 12,000Km since the rebuild.

Does anyone know of a supplier in Australia that holds stock of Td5 reconditioned or new engines? I would like the later version (P15). I am located in Perth.

I realise the above might sound odd, but I need more refinement, ease of tuning etc. I am aware I will have to change the input shaft and bell-housing of my R380 Gearbox and obviously fabricate some engine mounts.

Thanks

Rob

Sourcing an engine is the easy part. You will need chassis mods, fuel tank, cooling system, gearbox and wiring mods.

It isn't as simple as some may have you believe.
Unless you are very good with the tools and have a good budget don't bother. Buy a TD5 model or keep what you have.

I appreciate the reply, I built the truck from the ground up and not scared of fitting it. I already have the rear plastic tank fitted and most of the Td5 wiring and all the gauges in place as I brought ROW loom (Rest of the world) when Land Rover was still making the 300Tdi for export to Africa etc upto 2001 ish. So I have the Td5 dash, loom etc already fitted in the car. I know I will have to get the in-tank fuel pump as well.

Anyway, does anyone know where I can source a new or reconiditioned Td5 Engine in Australia?

Regards

Rob

Harrison engines in Osbourne Park will re-sleeve the block for about $1k, don't know what the charge for a full rebuild but give them a visit, you'll need to supply the engine. I have had some work done there and would recommend their workmanship. Good Luck with the project...Joe
