Hi all
First post & as the title say's, my wife & I are placing an order for a MY14 Discovery tomorrow.
We currently have a WJ Jeep Grand Cherokee V8, which has been a great car, heaps of power & we were seriously tempted to go for the new Overland CRD Grand, BUT, I have loved the Discovery since I first saw the D3 at the Brisbane Motor show many years ago. We came close with the new Jeep, but my wife - wonderful woman, said to me "which car is your passion" & there was only one answer, so a new MY14 Discovery it is.
The dealer had a MY13 one in stock which had been there for about 4 months, which had all the stuff on it we wanted except the colour & they were prepared to deal on it too, but again my wife said for the sake of a few $K, get the one you really want, so thats what we're doing tomorrow.
It's being salary sacrificed/novated lease & will be a TDV6, Loire Blue, Almond leather, 5 seat, E-diff, upgraded Meridian sound instead of the Harmon Kardon, Bi-Xenon's & signature lights, privacy glass, rear view camera & LR Corporate Plan.
To say Im excited is a massive understatement, only problem being, because its being built to order, the dealer is saying May delivery, what a drag that will be.
But anyway Im looking forward to having many an interesting discussion on here & posting pic's once we receive our car.

Tiddy,
Congrats, I feel your pain but I have to only wait until early April (maybe late Mar). I had the same offer, we can do a deal on the MY13; however, I always had my mind set on the MY14 as was prepared to pay the extra few dollars for it. Also my first Land Rover, but I am more than happy to take the plunge, finally. Anyhooo, I hope you enjoy the new discovery as I hope I do mine.
Cheers

Best bit of advice I have read in a long time... It took me 11 hours to drive home with my new one, and I didn't even get inside before SWMBO was in it, and going for a drive. :o
BTW - if you can, go for the 7 seat option. You may not need them, but down the track, it will make it more appealing to a prospective buyer. ;)
Especially considering the other goodies you are putting in.

Hi tiddy and congratulations on your purchase, i myself went through the exact same predicament Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit or Discovery 4 HSE through many many drives and discussions and price value discussions we recently took delivery of our new white HSE.
My situation was the same to i have loved the Discovery for many years and wanted one so very much in the end my partner said we can afford one now so why not get the car you really want and love!! Im glad i did as she loves it so much to!!
In the end i could not be bothered to wait so long to order one and whilst i did like the minor updated shape i was not going to wait another 3 to 4 months as the price i got was near on unreal for a HSE with electric steering column and e-diff, but i might upgrade next year.
Anyway I'm sure you will love it as we love our new Discovery which we only got 2 days ago, i took my good mate who is mad keen Audi Q7 Q5 fan for a drive today and blew his mind so much that he is now considering one (he commented he could not believe how comfortable and nice the inside was)!! Next step is to convert my Toyota fanatic neighbours haha!!

Hi Nat & the others, thanks for the welcome. Nat you must be on top of the world with yours right now, lucky sod
Interestingly, there was a 4x4 show on in Queanbeyan this weekend, so I went out & had a look. Usual people there selling safe opening can openers & the like, but they also had a 4x4 track set up with a number of vehicles on offer. There was a Grand Cherokee, Prado, 200LC, Discovery & various utes etc.
I decided to go in the Discovery first & was amazed at the controlled ride, so comfortable & unfussed. It didnt spin wheels & felt utterly stable. I then tried the GC, I was staggered at how stiff the ride felt, very choppy, you could feel it spinning wheels trying for traction & lifting wheels. It was so far behind the D4, it made me feel so much better that we chose the Discovery instead. After all that I gave the LC200 a go, it was the closest to the D4.
I had a grin from ear to ear when I left, it's an awesome feeling when you know you have just ponied up a stack of $'s & you've got it right.

Im very very very happy with it mate and so is my partner she loves it, but i just can't keep out of it i just want to drive places i love it and I've taken a few people for a ride and everyone is just blown away by how nice they are!!
But I'm very jealous i would have loved to go on that 4wd track and go for a burn that would of been awesome very fun. I've seen many videos of the LR experience centres in the UK they would be the best bit of fun around!!
I can guarantee you will love the car as much as i do and you will also be so happy that you skipped the Jeep and went for the best i am so happy i did and certainly don't regret my decision!!
I was looking at a 200 series cruiser myself and my partner loved them to from photos and family had owned several cruisers so we went to spend a day looking at cars 200 series prado jeep touareg, finally my partner said we will get the 200 series i said okay but lets just have a look at the Discovery she was cranky but agreed and had a drive and said hands down its the best car she has driven (not a car person) so that was good it was set!!
Then when i flew to pick up my car it was wet windy and a crappy day so they gave me a GXL 200 series that had just been traded to get a cheque from the bank, my god what a doughy soft roll over piece of like driving a boat really, then 10 mins later I'm in my Disco driving out saying thank f*#k i didn't buy a 200 series ahahahah
I love it and so will you i surely hope!!
