Roverlord off road spares

I learned the sad news today about the passing of Gary from CLR4wd on the weekend . Although I did not know personally I am aware that many of you have had great respect for him, and I'm sure he would be sadly missed by the Land Rover fraternity. I was Um ing and R ing whether I should publish this notice but checking threads today I noticed no one had mentioned it so I am letting you know. The news I got was he succumbed to his long battle with his illness.
So to Gary's family and friends I offer my sincere condolences and thoughts of what must be a very difficult time.
God bless you Gary, I hope you have found peace.

Thank you Mario

I met Gary many years ago and have supported him ( + as many Landie specialists as the pocket allows) & was pondering whether to wait till he returned - according to his Ebay adverts- for a required item.
I found him to be a very professional & ethical guy. Very sad news:(

I must say I am a bit shocked:(
I was only up there a few months ago, talking to Gary about how close the bushfires had come, and again just before Xmas to pick up a pair of Stratos seats that Gary removed from a 200Tdi defender that he was restoring.Certainly no indications of anything major going on then:(

We are very saddened to hear the news.

I still remember having a long chat with him about the Ebay business venture when Gary was starting out.

We met on many occasions .... he called in here often, either for a chat or to pick up some parts for one of his many Land Rover project he had on the go.

Always a true gentleman. I was unaware he was ill.

He will be sadly missed by many.

We send our sincerest condolences to his family and friends.

I can confirm the sad news that Mario originally posted.

He had not been well for some time due to cancer.

I visited Gary last Friday afternoon and had a short discussion with him as the ambulance was taking him to Nepean Hospital.

As was his wish he wanted to be at home when the end came.

He was surrounded by his family and passed away at 3.00am.

It is expected that his funeral service will be held this Saturday at Orchard Hills.

Gary leaves a wife and two young children.

In the years that I had known Gary, he conducted himself in a very ethical manner and would go out of his way to help his customers.

An all round good guy.

He will be missed.

sad news :( true gentleman he was. I never knew him other than buying parts of him. It was always a pleasure buying things from them. RIP Gary. Another angel taken too soon.
Thoughts and lots of supporting hugs for his family, children and friends. I hope they find comfort in that he is not battling anymore, he has wings now to watch over them with

I'm so very saddened to learn of this news. I called 15 minutes ago looking to talk to him about some parts and was informed of his passing by his Brother in-law.

Gary was an amazing support to me and my Defender over the years, the Defender I fell in love with came from his backyard.

I've visited Gary many times over the years and he has always been exceptionally helpful and very professional - the Land Rover community has truly lost a great man.

I remember talking to him not too long ago about the bushfires and wishing him and his family safety.

My thoughts and condolences go to his wife and children in this difficult time and wish you upmost strength.

Very sad :(

I concur, one of nature's gentlemen who will be sorely missed. Sincere condolences to his family.

I wonder if the business will continue, in particular with his moniker, not because I need any parts at the moment, but because it would be a nice way of remembering him and his help to so many in our fraternity.

A bit late a thought, bit any chance of sending some flowers from the AULRO'ian community? Didn't know Gary personally, but I would be happy to pop in a few bucks if anything is possible.

Received from Gary's wife.

Dear AULRO
Thank you for your sympathies. I hope you were able to make the service on Saturday. I really appreciated receiving your link to AULRO. It was lovely to see what people thought of Gary and to read of their condolences. Thank you.
The service was beautiful on Saturday and I believe between 400-450 people attended. The audience apparently included a crowd from the Land Rover fraternity. I was unable to speak to all who attended but very much wish to pass on my thanks for all those special folk who did attend. Gary would have been amazed at how many cared for him.
Thank you for your interest in our little family.
Regards,
Karin Gjerde

Sad to hear, only dealt with him a few times over the phone but was always a friendly helpful bloke.

Same here, was great to deal with. He even remembered who you were. A rare experience these days.
