Anybody know a supplier of original (or original appearance) wiper arms and blades for early IIAs? I am happy to get sprung blades too, as long as they have the original bright finish (as opposed to the black finish aftermarket ones).

Thanks,

John

Which reminds me, I lost the pax side wiper coming back from levuka.
Normally would have stopped and tried to pick it up, but when you have six k's uphill in first, wasn't stopping ,

Not sure where you would get them from? eBay maybe but you will probably pay a premium. Your best bet would be in the wrecking notices on this forum as 2a's come up from time to time. :BigThumb:

I've got S3 wipers on mine, which had to be trimmed a smidgen in order to do a full sweep but they do a better job IMO... not that it rains that often here :D I've painted mine during the build I've been doing which seems to have come up ok, although I haven't fitted them to the car yet. I really should add a picture in that thread

I guess it depends what you are after. Originality or improved functionality ... I'm not sure you can have both! :D

Damn! That was exactly what I was after. Both. But really, I don't mind them not-exactly-original as long as they have the "vibe"...

I'm considering aftermarket jobbies and an application of paint of some sort.

Thanks,

John

Hmmmm. This sort of looks like what I want. But you're right: not cheap....

Whoops, sorry - missed Gromit's earlier wiper thread. Sorry for the double-up.

Then again, mine's a '65....

Just a handy tip that you probably already knew about - with the very limited effectiveness of 1960-era windscreen wipers, a bottle of rain-x makes driving in rain a bit safer. Water just slides off the glass and visibility is greatly improved, even when wipers are barely adequate.

I replaced the wipers on DaOot & may still have the original ones floating around you can have.

I'll have a look & let you know:)

Thanks Garry. Yep, whatever I do, guess I'll smother the screen in Rain-X.

I've got a quote for some lovely items from the UK which look very close to original but have sprung blades. But seventy quid may not exactly be my cheapest option....

Do a search of ebay in Malaysia, I recently purchased a pair of the unsprung ones (12") for my Mk3 Inter, they were still in the sealed original Lucas packaging, I'm just hoping the rubber is still supple.

The Land Rover ones are shorter at 9", but the same vendor (vh0607) had lots of Land Rover parts. So try item 120704441715

Hey everybody,

Thanks very much for all the help and suggestions. It's struck me that if I can get two arms through the help of one or two of the kind offers here, it's probably worth getting the you-beaut stainless blades from Tex Industries as they're brand new, sprung and look close enough to original to be fine. The main part of the cost if I import a completely new set is actually the arms.

Cheers,

John
