I say that about every new doctor, but they seem to grow on you. It's a bit difficult to reconcile his character in "the thick of it" with Doctor Who. Time will tell indeed :D

i love dr who. i am really not sold on the new one though. like already said, time will tell. tennant was my fave, smith had big shoes to fill after and he did well. but the new one just feels a bit wrong. we will see.

They all do at first. Even Tennant and Smith took a while to settle in.

Eccleston was brilliant and it was disappointing he only did the one season.

David Tennant and Tom Baker are my two favourites. All the others haven't really filled the role anywhere near as well.

Just say no to the Ponds!!! They were kept on way too long as it was. They had more final tours than the Eagles.

Pertwee and Baker were my favourites, but I was an impressionable young squeeker back then, I did like the young Davidson when he started, but he didnt last too long. Tennant is the best of the new bunch

Jon Pertwee's stint as Doctor Who was before my time, I got to watch him in Worzel Gummidge first. Then when I saw him in Doctor Who afterwards, it wasn't quite the same.

Worzel Gummidge would have spoilt your Dr Who experience seeing it that way, I was really quite small when I watched Jon Pertwee fend off Sea Devils and Sontarians, often accompanied with a cushion to hide behind.
Worzel never had the same effect, I think I found Aunt Sally more interesting by then ;)

been watching Dr Who for at least 45 years, used to scare the crapper out of me as a kid, from the second Dr on, sort of lost it after Tom Baker (my old series fav) and was blown away by Eccleston (my new series fav - so far) looking forward to how the new one pans out

Trivia: Romana Mk 2 (Lalla Ward), assistant to Tom Baker, was briefly married to Baker (2 years). She has now been married for some time to Richard Dawkins (renowned biologist but more famous for his books on atheism).
