There's a bloke in Townsville (P38 owner) who I've been counseling lately. He has had enough of P38 ownership. Young fella, his Rangie wears 22" bling rims and is more a status symbol than anything...
What interested me about his P38 was the suspension setup! It was still riding on air, but had an independent controller. You could raise or lower it bag-by-bag and it'd hold the height you asked for (even if that meant the left was on the bump stops and the right was in high. Likewise front to rear).
Not saying that I'd get it for the ability to drive lop-sided, but I do have an interest in the controller.
He has it for sale (and may have actually sold it by now), but for the first time, I'm going to look at his setup in a few days time. I will take good notes of how it works and post up the details. I'm assuming that it may be an opt-out answer for those with bad valve blocks or ECU dramas who want something a little more user friendly.
Will post up results.

That should be very interesting Keith. Sure there will be more than myself interested in simplifying the air setup with something a bit more user friendly and less prone to failures.

There are certain off-road situations where that would be amazing, if you were leaning too close to a bank or a tree the ability to just roll yourself away from it would see jaws dropping from the Nissota brigade.
I'd guess that the EAS pump, tank and valve block are exactly the same and this is just some additional complication involving the height sensor signals. Maybe the internal control is adjusting the signal from individual height sensors and the system is then inflating or deflating that bag the get the correct sensor input back.
Just guessing as there are other ways that it could be done but it will be interesting to hear more about it, especially if pictures are involved.
Pictures of the 'pimp' wheels would be interesting too, they always make me laugh.

There are plenty of options for this kind of setup, just look on e-bay US air suspension controller.

Mmm, a master switch to swap the wing mirror controls to control each corner of the car , and the left right switch as an air in/out switch.
It might'nt be that easy because of the centre console 'outstation...?' But it could be quite neat.

I thought us P38 addicts were already lop-sided ... this just proves the point :twisted: need to read both pages of posts... probably enough info to secure all bits required.
Relies on manipulating the heights separately via the so-called "pig tail" method (tapping into different pins in the EAS connector under the front passenger's seat) ...use custom Google search on rr.net

Not quite the same. It uses an independent compressor and tank (why bother??) and all the control hardware is in where the spare lives.
I can't post photos using my iPhone, will do my usual trick (and annoy Peter on Facebook!!).
Haven't looked at it yet but he does have pics on Facebook.

Here's the pics that Keith talked about.... This P38 could barely climb a gutter without damaging it's rims.
But I'm ashamed to say out loud, I actually don't mind the rims for a p38... But not rushing out to buy a set of 22's don't worry.. Maybe 28's with 2 inches of sidewall instead :)

Yeah they look ok for bling rims. Not ideal, but look good.
