Replacing panhard rod bushes

Hi all
Just a quick one.
When replacing the panhard rod bushes do I need to Jack the car up?

No, however it depends on which way the bolt on the drivers side was put in, if it was put in from the back then you may need to lift the chassis to get enough clearance to remove the bolt. When putting it back put it in from the front.

Often wondered why the drivers side was "back to front" so to speak - makes what should be an easy job more difficult. Bit like the last bolt on the ZF auto sump cover is obscured by the chassis mount.

But do make sure the car is level.

Years ago I did it the hard way by taking the panard rod off when the car was parked in the street and the camber of the road made it very difficult to get it back on.

Even when level, the chassis to axle alignment can move enough that you will not be able to reinstall it (by hand force) I just use a ratchet strap from the side of my winch bar to a adjacent post.

You can also do radius arm bushes without jacking so long as you only do one side at a time.

Again, I had my axle move enough that it would have been a big struggle to refit it with hand force. Ratchet strap around axle housing and attached to post in front sorted it with ease.
