Alloy wheel question(s)

I bought a set of 18" alloy wheels over the weekend off a seller on Gumtree. Now they were advertised as D2/P38A (and unfortunately the seller had listed them with a part number that doesn't exist), but they weren't like any D2/P38 wheels I had ever seen.

I toddled along, and picked them up (finding that the seller had transposed/misread a couple of numbers), got them home and researched the numbers.

Out of the four wheels, two have part number RRC505360MNH and two RRC505360XXX.

The MNH wheels are listed on Microcat (the XXX is not listed on there) as being original fit on the D3, D4 and RRS. Is that right?

And is there any significance to the XXX part number versus the MNH part number? They are both stamped with correct load limit of 940kg.

I think that they were the standard 18" rims on a RRS & the 18" Rims on a D3 HSE from memory

MNH is a colour code.
XXX is the raw rim yet to be other chromed, coloured or special finished.
The last 3 X's won't come up as they are blank numbers.

They're in absolutely perfect condition, so I'm pretty pleased for $200!

Had my Cooper Zeons mounted on them today, and they certainly look good and chunky compared to the old ones.

I guess some guys make their own luck and you must be one of them.

You gambled and won. Fifty dollars each for 18" 940 kg rated LR wheels is a deal. Over here, you might get 19" wheels for that price, but 18" are hens teeth. Used, 18" genuine LR 940 kg wheels price closer to $250 each if you can find any at all.

I did not realize that the RR Sport ever came with 18" wheels. That is good to know as it provides an additional 18" wheel to look for.

Over here 18"s are common - 17"s are "hens teeth" and in the UK people seem to throw away 17"s so they can fit 22"s footballers rims - funny old world we live in :D

Yes, over here it seems to primarily the Cadillac Escalade group that tosses the 20" and tries for bigger than 22". Looking at them reminds me of the steam tractors of the past when they wrapped the steel wheels with a band of rubber - very upscale in the early 1900's.

The video below features a number of steam tractors with the new rubber shod wheels - most must be 60" if not more, away ahead of their time I can only presume.

As previously mentioned, the 'XXX' is a blank colour code.

If googling the part numbers, just drop the last 3x digits i.e. ignore the XXX or MNH, etc...

(Note - the suspension is fully deflated, as I wanted to see see how far up into the arch they went)
