6 or 9 dBi?

I need a quick reply so can we leave this question in GC for 24 hours please mods? It could then be moved to comms.

I've just fitted a new UHF and antenna. The antenna can be configured as 6 or 9dBi (whatever that is); 6 would be more convenient heightwise but will performance be adequate?

6dbi is more than enough unless your going remote
