Hi All,
I am getting my 110 TD5 ready for remote area travel. I would like to install a rear wheel carrier. I have 255/85s.

Have people used the Mantec one?
Land Rover Defender Rear Spare Wheel Carrier Mantec Black 2002 Onwards | eBay (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Land-Rover-Defender-Rear-Spare-Wheel-Carrier-Mantec-Black-2002-Onwards-/200994133227?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2ecc2f14eb)

Or the TerraFirma version
Terrafirma Land Rover Defender Spare Wheel Carrier in Adamstown, NSW | eBay (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Terrafirma-Land-Rover-Defender-Spare-wheel-Carrier-/191069422136?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&fits=Make%3ALand+Rover%7CModel%3ADefender&hash=item2c7ca00238)

Or this Generic version

Rijidij looks well made l'll admit. (Most pricey)

I realise that there are FAR fancier models around...but aren't convinced l should drop $2k one.

Thanks in advance.

Spend a bit extra and go with a Rijidij carrier

They are top notch

I had one on my old Defender, and I'll be fitting a dual carrier to my County when it's finished

As above, get the Rij - tough as hell and easy to use.

There is also Kaymar.
I've had one of these fitted for over 10 years now with no problems.
Not sure of Kaymar pricing nowadays but the Rijidij looks like it might be my choice if I was doing the job right now.

Have the mantec one on my 90
Love it been on there for 11 years now with no problems and been all the tracks around Aus with no problems.

Best thing is they are not too in your face and open with the car door.

Going to get one for the 110.

The cheaper ones are known to crack, particularly over corrugations, last thing you want if you are setting up for remote use.
I have one of the early Rijidij carriers on my 110 and it has copped a pounding and carries a 35" wheel as well as a Hi Lift jack, permanently mounted,it opens with the rear door and still works as well as it did when new.
I have been so impressed with it that I ordered another for my 130.You won't find another that is stronger;)

I have had the KayMar version on for the past 5 years, it really is unbreakable. !

But.....if I purchased one today it would be the Rijidij Didge's for sure

I have a Rijidij dual jerry can holder setup on the back of my 90. It is a quality product. I am pretty useless on the tools but even i managed to installed it as the instruction booklet is very good. If i buy another Defender i will definitely buy another Rijidij rear bar.

I've got a Ridji still in the box waiting to be fitted! It arrived just before I went on a trip and I just didn't have the time to fit it.
Out of the box it will be very soon though.:D

I was down at Rijidij shed where they all get made the other day inquiring about a 130 carrier. And they are looking great. Very solid and well thought out. So my order has gone in for one. A few week wait on mine though it will be worth it.

I'm working on the 130 carriers right now. It's been a couple of hectic weeks with the 4wd Show among other things, but I'm back in the workshop now and things are moving along.

Once the 130's are done I should have all the components to do a batch of 110/90 carriers next.

Cheers, Murray

Another vote for Ridgidige. Love mine, best mod so far. I didn't like the fact the others bolted to the body panels.

Ridgy, there is no other choice :)
