How good is this. No barge fees, no poxy National Parks beach driving permit, no people, and only 1.15 hours from door to beach.
Had a spare morning so took the family to South Stradie for a picnic. What a magic spot. Calm shaded beach one side. Over the dunes and less than 100m away is the surf. Something surreal about swimming in crystal clear water all to yourself while looking at the sky scrapers of the Gold Coast 5km away.

Very nice indeed.
Almost had mine out for testing yesterday, maybe today. But won't have the scenery like you've got there.
How does your binimi go when traveling? I'm seriously thinking about getting one myself for mine. The only thing stopping me is the casting factor, and as to weather it will be in the way or not.

chops, cant say I have used the boat to cast a line yet, isn't that terrible. But the binini is 1.9-2.1m in length which theoretically is too big for the boat. It's just a budget Oceansouth brand but thus far as stood up. It is good for the family shade purposes however.
I guess it will get in the way a bit when casting, but there are smaller, much smaller models to choose from.
I'd rather struggle with the cast than be BBQ'd sitting in the sun. Some people love it, but I find the sun in Qld quite piercing for half the year.

I live in Tassie and took my binimi off as it made trailering in the wind a bloody nightmare! it was just a big sail, increased drift speed so even the sea anchor would not hold ya! and it made casting a bugga. boat has a cabin so get under there to get out of the sun/rain sez I. never looked back and have not missed it One bit .........plus it broke in a high wind :p

How would it be a problem when your transporting it,, would'nt you close it up/pack it away? I understand out on the water, and the wind-catch factor there, but as Jason said, I think I'd prefer to be out of the direct sun.
I've come off the water a few times, burnt to a crisp
