Hello All,
I have a 2008 FR2 with the inbuilt 7 inch screen Sat Nav. I know I need a DVD to upgrade the sat nav but am not really up for paying $199 (!!!!) for the upgrade DVD. Any one know where I can get hold of a cheaper copy?!
Cheers in advance!

I recommend purchasing the genuine product.
Using a fake copy could cause expensive damage to your nav system.
$199 is reasonable when compared to certain models which cost over
$500 and require a visit to your local dealer to complete.

I don't see the value in upgrading it. You're using hardware that's 7 years old now and I'd rather buy a new one and get all the warranties and benefits etc that come with it if you're gonna spend what is consider a large amount of money on technology.
But I did upgrade mine for free using my computer and Google. It's 2009 model though and has a USB connection. Does yours? Nothing illegal - I upgraded using the latest free "open street maps" and Garmin software called Basecamp which is used for map keeping and updating. It doesn't change any of the software on the product simply updates the img file it uses to draw it's maps with a new one showing all the new roads.
I don't remember how the process went as it was a while ago but it was all pretty smoothe. Hopefully searching for all this can get you started.
Everything works smoothly and the maps are more up to date than you'd get on a DVD since people from around the world update them every day.
I hope this helps!
