In my quest to do Fraser Island without a roof rack I've made up some side panels for the rear. The factory ones (and the sub) take up a lot of room.
It's only 6mm cd ply, with the corners filleted with fibreglass and micro - balloons, and carpet glued on. But I think they've turned out okay and opened up the back by about 20 percent I'd say.

That looks great mate! Has definitely opened up the back!
A good option to those who don't use their parcel shelf!
It's it just you on the Fraser trip?

We've got three vehicles going, dad's 3.5 disco, and my brothers np pajero - so it should be an easy run.
The only issue may be at inskip point if we get a ferry on the high tide, as with the camper we'll be nearing 3.5 tonne......

Should be a good trip!
Remember - tyre pressure is king.

Yeh, I don't bother experimenting with pressures anymore.
Straight to 16 on the car and 8 on the trailer, though I've used pressures as low as 8 on the car before.
Usually 18 and 20 when in the high country though - a few more rocks there.
I don't think we'll have a problem.

You've got it sorted! If it gets really soft I'd go lower. Remember to watch your speed @ 16psi!

I believe it's a spare wheel holder

Yeh thats it Kiethy.
My lpg tank sits under the car where the wheel well was. The frame is better than nothing but I still don't like it, as I think the bosses would pull out of the floor in a severe accident.
I'm going to see Murray from Rijidij soon about his swing away kits.

I rather like this one.
I think I saw it here somewhere.
I have the same problem here with The Bitch, its also on gas.
Gas doesn't work tho and there is nobody here in Mackay that has diagnostics for gas.
If the thing was actually mine I would thro all that gas crap in the skip.

Benji,
I have one of Murray's kits which looks like it will now be surplus to my needs.
I will PM you about it

Thanks Steve, that'd be great.
That looks great Rob! Well done.
The gas strut is a good idea.
Ideally I'd like a tire on one side and 40 litres of water /fuel on the other.
Obviously you would carry fuel on the road, but in the bush it'd be okay.
