Thank you button on this forum

I must be stupid but I can't find the 'thank you button for this post' button on the Aulro site webpages.

I thought that on vBulletin sties this button would normally show up in the right bottom of every post.
However I see only 4 buttons for 'quote', "multi quote', 'quick reply' and 'blog this post'.


Several times I had a real urge to thanks a poster ..... but I can't find how to do it.....:confused:

However this site is truly Land Rover, I see the latest post first on the screen, and first post as the very last post. I also read everything from bottom to the latest post.

you do get a feel for it, but at first it was very different, like a land rover.

This is a user option - go to User CP and select "edit options".

I do not know why Peter does not see the "Thanks" button in the bottom RH corner of each post - perhaps it is only available to subscribers?

If you are already subscribed, have a look up the top RHS and see if you are still logged in and you may need to tick the box to be remembered.

I occasionally have issues with it but mainly on my phone or the old laptop thats an antique. I suspect that its a browser issue rather than the site

I don't see a "Thanks" button when I am not logged in - only a "Quote" button in that case. Otherwise it's always there.

Although I hardly visited AULRO, .....too many other projects, the ongoing multi-year reno of the house .... I joined in 2011 and was fully activated as far as I know. And I was logged in too.
Anyway it works now. After a 4th restart of the laptop (after posting my original mail) suddenly the 'thank you' button appeared. That was a couple of days ago. Fortunately after many more restarts it remained.:D

Strangely I missed the 'thanks' button both with Firefox and Chrome. Both are fine now. I guess it was a Windows glitch, maybe a script error issue that resolved itself. As I hadn't used this laptop for a year it might have been be a Windows update issue.
I couldn't test if the issue was the same on my main computer. As I stuffed my back (hernia) I was/am on the laptop in bed. So I posted to see if others had the same problem. Obviously it was only me... sorry to have bothered you.


But being in bed .... alone ... with the wife in the guest room :p I had now 4 days of solid reading on the AULRO site. :D.
Ouch, 4 days gone.... and I realise I am only just starting to scratch the surface. :eek:

Should have done that reading years earlier as it might have saved thousands in unsuccessful repairs (e.g. recurring MS lights problem remaining after sensor replacement) or too expensive repair approaches (e.g. apparently you can replace solenoids instead of a full starter motor as done by garage).

I am quite good with reno-ing, electrics, computers etc. but never touched engine/car stuff. But during last year we had issues with our small tractor and several of our garden equipment engines.. and got it fixed myself. Learning on the go.

I never worked on (the wife's) Disco 2 ... too afraid to kill it.....
The Disco only does about 5000 km a year (of which 1000 km towing a horse trailer). Most of the time it just stands waiting for our attention.... but it is also our main car. Commuting is by train.
But with all the issues the Disco had/has and my diminishing trust in the repairer (who appears to go for the standard/costly fix first), it might be better to start trying to repair/maintain the Disco myself fist.
Hence the urge for accelerated reading of AULRO.

I am stumped.... in a positive way ;)
This site absolutely provides loads of knowledge and support (and yes ... I recently bought the RAVE here too).... But RAVE doesn't come with interactive support... this site does.
All the reading gave me the shove to realize I should at least try to do it myself. The worst thing that might happen is that we need a new car....:D
So in advance ... thanks to all you contributors already.

With my new AULRO boosted knowledge I think it is time to do some maintenance and repairs myself..... just have to buy some extra tools :D... nanocom, good torque wrench, etc.

There is a whole list of projects... the Disco 2 (2004) provides ample opportunities...:twisted:
- 3 amigo's are getting almost permanent now, time to kill these buggers
- RH front window doesn't close fully
- head liner dropping
- scratch in roof
- slowly deflating tire (very slowly a couple of PSI per week)
- gearbox starting to develop a thud when accelerating with horse trailer behind
- Disco appears very slow to pick-up speed (slower than when purchased ?... difficult to remember as you get used too stuff getting slower when it happens over a longer time).
- install spotties we bought two years ago (never got around to do this)
- reversing camera ( and monitor in horse float)
- repair or new back fender (horse float stronger than plastic bumper)
- and several extra projects.

So ... I hope to see you on other threads.

I too cannot see the 'thank you' button, only the 4 options referenced in the initial post. I am computer literate and have tried various browser clients, linear display, threaded.... logged out, logged in..... all to no avail.
High spec 64bit Win7 machine, very confused...

Hmmm.... as far as I can see I have, I'm not sure what else I should have done, I can login, 'post' and 'reply' but not 'thank' it seems. I would have thought the reverse was more applicable for someone without a correct account?

It seems sending the last message has 'turned on' the 'thanks' button which has now magically appeared ...... 'confused'?
