109 Utility wheel wells - body colour of galvanised?

Having got my new wheel wheels ready for paint on the 2a, I'm wondering from the factory were these body colour or galvanised? :confused: I've seen people take different approaches to this (although usually the body colour option) and the "original" cars I've seen scattered across this country of ours either have been customised (often to hold a Gerry can) or are missing altogether. I've got a few old (original) Series advertising things at home and the two that show the 'long' from the rear are both drawn and the 109 is a light colour so in black and white it makes it hard to tell!

Galvanised. I got a nos one for mine years ago, and also the same on the one I got in a tub I'm planning to make into a trailer.

The riveted in spare wheel receiver inside the LWB body is galvanised, and it is best fitted on the passenger side otherwise it restricts the drivers sight when reversing with the sides rolled up on a soft top,I had mine fitted on the drivers side and changed to the off-side there is also a clamp fitting that rivets to the galv side to hold the tyre upright.:)

Standard is on the driver's side, which is where mine is - and I do not find it a problem whether the canvas is on or off - if reversing I usually look over my left shoulder, clear of it. If on the left it will be more of a problem merging left after overtaking or on merging lanes, but half the time you have your view blocked by the load anyway, so it is not a major concern either side.
