Black Snake 4WD Recovery Strop (8t - 10m) | GLB VIC BLACK SNAKE (http://www.glbvic.com.au/shop-online/4wd/black-snake-4wd-recovery-strop-8t-10m)
Are they the Bees Knees or over Priced items:confused:

When next in the market I will give them a try, don't have to worry about them wearing with grit getting caught up and having to wash the cloth/elastic knit ones. Just want to hope they last about three times as long.

I wouldn't consider them a snatch strap at all. It's a nylon rope, with
Smooth stretch of up to 20% to assist recovery.
They also have some "interesting" comments about their other products as replacements for the usually used products.

ARB snatch straps are 100% nylon with 20% stretch too though, so on paper they should perform a recover exactly the same...

I've used 50t versions in the mining industry - seemed to go alright despite the arduous conditions.
Bit pricey though?

I used one to tow a 60 series towing a 22 foot dual axle road van out of a cutting at North Straddie...excellent gear. Very smooth towing.

they seem awfully expensive to me , for a jobbie that does the same thing as any of the common brands, which I will not name as I might miss one and some one will complain.
just buy one of the common brands, if they are rated with the correct tag.

The way i see it is, it's a LR D90 it not going to need Snatching very often So this Water/Dirt resistant SnatchStrap will last the life of the D90.
If i find you stuck need assistance & you don't have any recovery gear then you going to be digging yourself out over night ;)

Good gear with one drawback...
Price.
for the money you can buy that for you can buy a few snatch straps.. and you still have to face up to the problem that they will only do so many recoveries before they loose their elasticity.
IMHO...
they stand up to the generic abuse that gets hurled at that kind of gear better but they are harder to inspect for internal wear and stretching.
End of the day
Would I go out and buy one with my own money for my use?
no (but then I dont do much snatch recovery work)
Would I be upset with someones judgement if they wanted to buy me one?
no, But I would politely defer them to items in the same sort of price range that I have a more urgent need of.
Would I be offended if one was given to me anyway?
no, they are very good bits of kit
Would I be prepared to buy one for someone as a gift or as payment in the bater scheme of things?
Yes, if that was what they wanted.
