View Full Version : Where's the D3 towbar?

Just bought a 2009 D3 V6 petrol with 77,000 k's that has never had the towing hitch attached to the mounting bracket.

DOH! - I assumed that the actual towing bar with the ball would be inside the vehicle somewhere - unfortunately I didn't ask the previous owner where it was located as I just ASSUMED it would be located in the vehicle as a factory supplied item.

Much appreciated if someone could let me know:

A- does LR provide the towing bar and ball ex works;
B- if not is there a non-genuine fitment for the hitch from another source; and
C- if the answer to B is no, what should I be looking to dig into my wallet for $$$ wise to get one?

Thanks very much for any replies! (PS I did the intro thing a few minutes ago)

Regards, V2

It's supposed to be stored in the left hand rear compartment. Drop the tailgate and on the left it should be there, if not why not ask the previous owner.

If you're referring to the tongue with the towball, no not normally supplied with the car, ours wasn't.

Thanks Redback, I suspected that may be the situation as neither previous owner towed at all, but wanted to check with the knowledge board.

Has anyone used an aftermarket tongue to fit the D3 Australian hitch?

Although just check the ratings if you want to tow to the full capacity. Most of the Hayman Reese ones are rated at 2500kgs and the Discovery can tow 3500kgs.
