Front Park Sensors Staying On

I have a MY13 D4 HSE with revserse camera and front sensors only fitted.

Today, when I reversed, the front sensor started reacting as though something was really close with a constant tone. If I put it out of reverse it still keeps sounding off. Was fine before. BTW I have an ECB bar fitted for a number of months and they have worked fine up until today. The noise stops if I turn the sensor system off, when not in reverse, using the button near the clock.

Anyone got any thoughts on why this may be happening and if so, how to fix?

Not sure if this will help but my D4 HSE is fitted with an ARB bar and the park sensors fitted in the front worked fine when fitted in the bar for about two years. This is despite the poor fitting arrangement on the ARB bar. About a month ago they went 'bananas' and nothing my service agent could do would fix them.

In the end I gave up and had the front sensors disabled! Peace in our time:)

Prior to that final straw being reached the sensors could be partially rotated or moved in and out slightly and these movements would affect their sensitivity. The problem is then maintaining them in the best position. Once they move the problem starts all over again!

I figure having the front sensors disabled is not much of a drama as generally that is the direction I am looking in!:eek:

Mine stay on if they are wet. When they are dry they are fine.

Problem is not as bad this morning as only two of the four sensors are showing on the display as activated. I had a closer look and the two inboard sensor connections are right next to an opening in the bull bar. I had wondered whether water might be an issue. They're much more exposed than the original bumper bar positions. Would RP7 etc be ok on these connections? Is there a product around that would seal the connections when they dry out?

I don't think it is due to wet connectors on mine. I think it is the sensors themselves that are wet and for some reason they detect the water.

I can speak only for ARB bars as that's the one I have, however I suspect the issue may be similar on other bars.

On my ARB Deluxe winch bar the front sensors are held in place differently to how they're done on the OEM bumper. This mounting is not adequate - the sensors move and thus give the 'jammed on' tone. The current design has each shop drilling sensor holes and mouting the sensors (IIRC using a small bracket). Apparently some fittings work and some, like mine, never do.

To their credit ARB corporate is in the process of re-designing the D4 bar. I am led to believe the new design will have sensor holes from the factory and mounts similar to (or a copy of? I cannot recall their exact wording) the OEM sensor mounts. The current plan is to test the re-designed bar on an employee car within the next few weeks. I don't know how long testing will go on for but assuming the new design fixes the issue, I would expect the new design to replace the existing one for all new D4 fittings.

Well, it's fixed itself and it's been dry so it must be a moisture issue with the sensors. Still love to know exactly why in case I could prevent it but at least I can turn the noise off by using the button on the dash.

I had the newly designed D4 bar fitted last week and my front sensors now work perfectly.

The new design used OEM sensor mounts sourced from LR directly. The holes are also in a slightly different place.
