Hi guys,

Interesting problem. Auto trans is working well. Has just been serviced. Also brand new battery. 07 D3 V8 HSE.

When in cruise and the car kicks down when going up a hill - all good. That's how it should be. But when the car gets back on level ground the auto stays in the gear it kicked down to. Using command shift you can get it to cooperate.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Willem

Heres my two bobs worth - my vehicle, 05 V8 with steel pan & gearbox service - I've had similar sounding issues (inappropriate holding of gears mostly first on steep hills in my case) pre and post service. Solution for me was to reset TCM ecu adaptive learning (had noticable effect), engine ecu adaptive learning (for the fun of it) - these reduced the incidence to rare occasions. I've also performed a hard reset which seemed to pretty much resolve the problem (will occasionally do it on a particular very steep hill when cold but I think it has always done it and it's just one of those things). I'm not sure if these are the right things to do (certainly had mechanics baffled particularly as it is hard to reproduce), but they are 'do no harm' kind of solutions that will only cost you time (if you don't have a diagnostic tool then maybe just try the hard reset). HTH & good luck.
