That appears to be a water python Liasis fuscus but what it is incredible is the size of it. The average size is about 2 meters long.

on that link the lady said that this incident will not stop her swimming in that lake in the future :o

the fact that there are crocodiles in that lake should be what stops her from swimming, especially if they are Salties.

Small crocs mean that there are bigger ones around.

I saw a different shot and link to this on my Facebook page.

I thought it looked like an Olive Python, and they can grow to over 3 metres.

They are the Johnstone River variety or freshwater crocodile John. No salties that far up the Leichhardt River.

there is a real excellent video doing the rounds--I saw it on Facebook, that shows a large Cayman [or alligator or crocadile] on a mud bank with a pair of fury ears swimming towards it.

I though here comes dinner for that Croc when first watching this clip. but what happened is very surprising, something I did not expect at all.

You should find this on Youtube, it is a very worthwhile watch for nature lovers.

I assumed the freshy would win, so I was surprised at the success of the snake.
I still wouldn't swim in there, even if they are only freshys. That snake is enough to put me off.

May as well bring this over from the interesting pics threads.
This was sent to me by my parents in South Africa. Don't mind if someone inserts photo correctly.

Python Swallows a man in the KwaZulu-Natal
Hi guys, here's a bit of a shocker for those of you who like wandering about in the bush or unexplored routes and roads.
It took 8 men to load this python on to the truck. It swallowed a man after it found him drunk and sleeping next to the N2 road in Mkhuze,KZN on Saturday.
Had it not been spotted, the python would have remained on the same spot for up to 8 months while it digested every piece of the man's body, including
skull and every bone in his body.

Rats. Tapatalk won't let me repost the photo.
It's a bloody big python with a large adult size bulge
