OK so the first time I have connected the trailer plug on the caravan to the 'new' RRS (its a 2008 TDV8). This plug has worked fine on my 2 Defenders (including the Puma). This is what happened:

1. the reverse lights on the car came on and stayed on
2. when one turn indicator is on the other one blinks as well but very dull (on the van)
3. when the headlights are put on both the indicators flash very dully as well (on the van)
4. the electric brake circuit seemed to work fine

The van has LED globes but the previous owner of the RRS told me it had the LED conversion for towing done.

Any ideas before I take it to the auto electrician?

Thanks in advance

Sounds like the conversion (box) has been removed...

...or needs to be switched on?

Thanks guys - I have just checked in the vehicle and...... no conversion box. So I have ordered the linear electronics module. However - does this explain the reverse lights on the vehicle going on when I connect the van's plug? I will take it to my trailer with LED lights and see what happens there. Thanks again

Corrosion on the trailers earth circuit?

plugged into the work trailer and just have the pulsing blinkers, no reverse lights coming on the vehicle. So pulled apart the plug on the van and it has a reverse wire (black) into socket 2, my work trailer does not. Could this be the cause of the reverse lights coming on the vehicle for some reason? When I get a chance later tomorrow I will disconnect the black wire and see if this makes a difference.

so I disconnected the black wire from number 2 pin in the van plug and the reverse lights on the car don't come on anymore when I plug it in. Now just need the Linear Electronics module for the flasher problem.

for those who need it here is their site: Linear Electronic Design | Home (http://www.linearelectronicdesign.com/)
