My missus would like the sun visors in the Defender to be able to swivel to the side, as per a 'normal' car.

Has anyone done a mod to do this? Or have any tips or advice on how to go about it ?

Leave the original and screw a Hylux :oone to the side channel if you replace the original you will need to fix a strap between the two mountings then fix to that

a strap between the two ? Bit confused by that....

Problem is I also want to fit some grab handles to the channel so cant really be bolting extra visors onto there.

I'm looking for a 'neat' solution not EXTRA visors etc if I can help it.

Unless you are going to remove the head lining and build a mount to suit the pivoting visor you would need to bridge the two existing mounts with 40x6 aluminium or similar and fix to that if the same as my 96 110

Ah so like a flat across the width of the windscreen (or close to) to which to mount the new visors.... ?

Dare I say this means your fiancé regrets telling you to buy a 130? :p

That being said, if my girl requested this, I'd buy some Disco visors and then figure out mounting after they arrive. :D

Now I'm on my laptop (not mobile) I see the ad is for D2 visors. I was in my D1 just before and they had the same 3 screw mounting bracket and design as in that ebay ad. If they're not exactly the same, they've very similar. So looks like D1 or D2 ones would work.

Might be a good excuse to put in an over-windscreen shelf, then mount a pair of pivoting visors to that.

Over windscreen shelf no good to me as I don't need ANY view blocked as at 6ft I am looking through the top of the screen anyway.

We moved some roller shades into our 300 TDI that we bought years ago and had fit to first an S3 then a 110 V8. These of course "completely" (well actually not quite) block the side window when down, but with the strong sun in our part of the world (and yours?) we've been very happy with them.
