Hi guys.

Does anyone know whether there is an appreciable difference between the 2009-2012 D4 and the 2013 D4. The reason I want to know is that Dave Interesting Things now sells the manuals on cd or download for 2009-2012 D4s but I have a NOV MY13 D4. I would like to have a workshop manual but obviously if they're too different it's not appropriate to buy the one covering 2009-2012.

Martin - I'm no expert, but I think the 2013 is an 8 speed auto (earlier models like mine are 6 speed). Also, I think that the TDV6 in the 2013 model is a 3 litre - earlier model is the 2.7 litre V6.

Don't know of any other differences, but no doubt there are some.

For some light input; I have read throughout this forum that the 2013 (as well as engine and gearbox changes mentioned above) had TR changes, almost to the point of negating the need for e-diff in certain conditions (opinions vary). This may only have been in the programming, so probably no difference related to a W/Shop Manual. Also believe there has been changes to turbo oil return lines. Not too sure about this though. MY14 once again must have additional program tweaks, as I believe off-road height is capable of 80km/h up from the previous 50km/h. IMHO it would still be best to wait for 'DIT' and get a workshop manual specific for your model/year though. You never know if things like wiring looms etc... have changed slightly.
There is no doubt someone on this forum will know the exact details and correct response. I would ask Dave (DIT)
Cheers,

MY14 once again must have additional program tweaks, as I believe off-road height is capable of 80km/h up from the previous 50km/h.

Owners of MY14 in DISCO4 have confirmed the off-road height speed limit is still the same.

The addition to the MY13 (that readily comes to mind) is the rotary gear knob, paddle gear change, 8 speed (which means different control module and programming), TC controls in different spot and slight increase in power.

MY14 has difference in external lights (headlight cluster, side indicator repeaters, fog-lights), and hence different front grill and bumper, and in some models, a second battery (does the Au version have the second battery, as we don't have the start-stop feature?).

I've got a 2009 and a 2013 model and they both drop height at 55Kph.

I've read so many articles in magazines and threads on this forum quoting all sorts of numbers for this 'feature' .... some as ridiculously low as 40 something KPH.....which is where I believe things (alerts/warnings) start binging and bonging.... but the car does not drop until 55.

Have I coincidently bought two D4s that both drop at a higher speed than all that are reported in magazines, etc .... LOL???!!! ;-)

Hi Celtoid,

Over the years I too have been bemused at the reported variation in speed at which D4's drop from offroad height to normal height.

I've had two D4's and both have dropped to normal height at 55kph!!!

Just like yours - our vehicles must be exceptional.

I think people do get confused between the BONGs and when it does drop; as I'm usually on the accelerator when it drops, I find I hit 60 by the time it does so.

You're right mate.

I've driven for miles on Fraser Is and Moreton Is, etc with the 'warnings' going off but I've just kept the speed below 55kph and the SUS stays in Offroad Height.

Annoying?....sure, but it doesn't lower until exactly 55kph.

Of course ..... there are ways around this .... ;-)

Can confirm it actually start dropping at 55kmh. I wonder why the Bongs start at such a low speed.
