I have installed a Barrett 950 and 910 autotune antenna in my TD5 Defender. I get pulse noise like petrol engine ignition noise which increases in frequency as the engine revs. I also get hash that is noisier when revs increase. Finally I get some low level noise from the fuel pump.
If anyone has experienced the same, found the source and a means to eliminate it I would love to know the details.

It is injector pulse noise.
I have reduced the noise considerably by placing 2 of those snap on ferrites over the injector loom bundle as close as possible to the cylinder head connector.
The noise is loudest at frequencies less than 8Mhz.
Haven't had problems with fuel pump noise though.

Hi
With my D2 td5 and Codan 8525 spent much time and treasure trying to get good engine running reception. Earths everywhere and off of everything. To no avail!
The interference is only on receive. Transmit is clear - well, a receiver cannot hear it.
I did find a great improvement though when eventually all of the antenna lead terminals, plugs and sockets were swaged. Forget solder connectors, get a radio tech to swage all of the anntena plugs and sockets.
I still have the radio sitting unconnected in the Td4 Defender. connecting it up is a couple of projects away :(
