Just back and unpacked from a great weekend at LCMP.

Thanks to Grimace for the passenger seat and Grant for leading the group.

We had a few cars in the end. Dave in his D2, Roger in his D2, Tim in the Pinz, Grant in his Defender, George in his Defender and Grimace in Fluffy.

I dont have a map so I cant recall the names of all the tracks but we covered a few including Cruiser canyon, Telecom hill, camp road, carnage canyon, jump up and quite a few others.

I will let the others do a more detailed report but I have a lot of pictures. I have put about 25 below out of the 300+ I took.

Near the end of Cruiser Canyon is a rock wall that is probably over 2m high. Grimace drove it!

Roger doing the same:

Grant moaning about salisbury diffs!

Grimace eventually rescued him!

Those downhill tracks are tricky hey Dave!!

Tim nailing a very steep climb:

Roger in a smallish water hole. The entire park was unbelievably dry.

Tim heading through:

A bit later on this morning we did have a bit of a drama on what really appeared to be a fairly innocuous section of track. I will let Tim fill in the details, but between us we had it back on its wheels pretty quickly and it started and drove down. Damage appears to be fairly minor as well luckily.

Us attaching some straps:

https://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/imported/2014/03/942.jpg

Even though we had ensured it was in gear, and the handbrake was on we also strapped it to a tree behind.

https://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/imported/2014/03/943.jpg

From there it only took a couple of minutes to have it back over.

Last little climb of the day which Grimace nailed:

Grant had a damn good try aswell:

I hope everyone had a good weekend. Thanks again to everyone.

Cheers!

Thanks Pete,

Some great photos there.

The Pinz tends to be a little tippy at the best of times but this is the first time I have ever put a car on it's side. Not really something I want to do again either.

It was just something that happened so fast, down a steep hill where two tracks joined together and as we were coming onto the other track a rut or something caught the wheel and pulled the steering wheel out of my hands and we were heading off to the right and up onto the bank before I could do anything about it. Then Dave said "We're going over" and we did. That bit seemed to happen in slow motion at least :). Thinking about it I wonder if I had put my foot down it might have driven out but then it might just have made it fall harder.

It's a new experience trying to get your legs out from under the steering wheel when you are on the side and can't open the door and then having to climb out the passenger door and jump off. And a new experience looking straight up at the passenger. Of course I didn't think to turn the ignition off, cut the power, put the handbrake on or any of that so had to climb back in through the back and do it.

Many thanks to Grimace, Pete, Grant and Dave, everything got back on track calmly and quickly, no panic, just working out the best way to do things and getting them done.

Some damage to the bodywork but it drove home without any issues at all.

Cheers,

Tim.

Great photos Pete!

Thanks to all for the great company. Sorry I was a bit crook most of the weekend. The wheeling certainly help get my mind off the pain.

Pete basically looked after me making sure I ate well (hmmm BACON!!!)
He also made sure the kookaburra ate well. Amazingly they were so tame we were able to pet some of them

As always LCMP proved to be a great venue, we didn't get as much ground covered as previous years, but we managed to cover some more difficult tracks as one entire group.

Must say Roger drove extremely well on the sat morning first run through some of the hardest creek sections the park had to offer. Little bit of bumper love but all in all very impressive!

The Krappen got loose!
Fluffy got looser!

Grant managed to have some front fender love with a tree and removed his mudflaps by way of tyre + terrafirma. This was after he dinged my bonnet, which was after Pete dinged my roof, ripped of my rear bumper, smashed the qtrs, busted the filler hose through the panel, and tore the rear light assembly completely off the vehicle.

Georges defender is working very well, the spring rates and balance front to rear is seemingly spot on for it's intended use.

I herd over the radio that Busman got stuck going down hill! TWICE :p

George imagined that he had lost his phone, only to drive round for 20 minutes searching the recent tracks, to eventually realize it was in his car all along :D

The kids thrashed the rock crawler (1/8th scale) I brought along.

Tim had the flop, I got to use my winch for the first time ever!
Surprisingly it worked as intended

Great weekend, ended with a bit of repairs to be done by a few of us!

Thanks again to all who attended, sorry to all that couldn't make it.

Cheers

That is almost exactly what happened isnt it Grimace :D

We can pick the point the damage occurred by pics!! My go first!!

Also what is wrong with my excellent light repair tape work!!

And I think the worst thing is the rear quarter on the drivers side!

Almost all of Fluffy's damage can be blamed on the 37" treps, sure they stick well to the terrain, but they also love bending the body work! I'm sure Pete has more pics of Fluffy's ridiculous rear flex spreading the love to the qtr's via the treps!

They are also attracted to largest rocks they can find, and love climbing undercuts! ...it has to be seen to be believed!

Love you fluffy! :D

Pete may have a better angle of this on another climb, but when the treps are tucked into Fluffy's rear arch like this, they play the rear qtr like a guitar! :D ....has to be the reason for the rivets popping through on the fill cap!!??

hi all,
Another great trip!
I am a bit annoyed that number 2 son and I decided not to do that last run and head back to camp. Missed all the fun .

All in all, I am pleased as punch with the progress I am making with the disco. We only finished fitting sliders Fri arvo and they have payed for themselves three fold! Turbo lag is gone so it does as it's told, when I tell it!

The company was great. There is something therapeutic about sitting around with a group of fellow hunters, wheeling, scoffing bacon and drinking beer!

I have 23GB of footage from my dash cam, here's two of the better ones.
One shows the moment my sliders payed for themselves and the other has a nice father sone bit with fluffy in the background. I'll upload some more later.

Well here is some good news. The Pinz is insured with Shannons and they have agreed to cover the damage. The important parts seem to be that LCMP are a registered park, that they have speed limits and road rule signs and that I was not partaking of Motor Sport at the time. Now I just have to get a quote and we will see if anybody can actually repair it or at least try :). Anybody know a good repairer around Mt Gravatt? I only know one I have used through another insurance company and they were ok to deal with.

Cheers,

Tim.

Good news.

Don't know any in Mt Gravatt but can highly recommend The Bump Shop (http://www.thebumpshop.com.au) over at Eagle Farm. We've used them a few times over the years and as well as luxury vehicles they do classics and customs etc. Tom had some extensive panel work and full paintjob done on his e-type about 30 years back... 25 years later they had no issue keeping to the lifetime warranty and fully restripping and repainting due to an issue.

Wow, I always wanted to be a member of an exclusive club :).

I don't think I will go for a multi year membership though, costs too much :p.

Cheeky still has her little bruise that she goes around showing off to any 4x4 that will listen to her boasting about what a rough and tough Rover she is.

So my membership was Free

I think we may have to have a meeting of the executive committee of the Sub-committee of the club, Looking at the pictures - Grimace might have just qualified for membership.....?

I will have to get the membership sub sub committee to inspect the damage... :TIC::TIC:

Just a broken tail-light will not cut it but..

I don't believe I have flopped on a club trip and any time I have flopped its been in a bank that I was able to drive out of, so unfortunately I don't qualify.
