View Full Version : I Fell Out Of My Disco

Not quite but nearly. Yesterday I put in a two inch lift kit, the rear having SLS.

For those that don't know, the bags only fill with air when the engine is running. So I have lowered it off my hoist and hoped in. Started engine and reversed out.

What I didn't know was that I had put the sensor links in the wrong hole and for some reason the extended height option had been activated.

So instead of being 50mm higher at the rear it was 140 mm higher. Not being aware that this had happened, when I went to get out of the vehicle the ground was not where I expected it to be and I almost fell out of it.

So did you install the lifting blocks that go under the bags and the extenders for the sensor arms.

Then what did you do in the front? Lifting blocks or higher springs and shocks?

I have the lifting blocks under the bags and springs in the front with Bilstien 7100 shocks all round. I used nanocom to set my height at 515mm hub centre to wheel arch.

Happy Days.

It's all good...just tell everyone you'd been drinking ok. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!

Blocks in the rear with sensor extensions, new springs up front and 4 by Bilstein's. Did you use longer brake hoses? I have concerns with the rear ones being a bit tight at full drop.

You can lower the brake line.
What kit did you use?

Purchased from Les Richmond in Thomastown
Had thought of modifying the bracket that attaches the hoses.

It's amazing that there's a kit off-the-shelf for a D2 with airbag rear yet nowhere on this planet can you buy a lift kit for a P38! Had to do it myself!

Watch your abs sensor in the rear too (if it's like a P38 it'll be on the same bracket as the brake line and you lower them both at the same time).

Didn't Hard Range do an air lift kit for the P38??

Dave I pulled down the brake lines in my D2, then used an extended braket for the rear to keep them from rubbing on things.

Put a sticky note on the steering wheel "Watch your step"

My son just bought a P38. He just pushes a button on the dash and it is as high as my disco.

Probably why no one has mad a kit, not really needed.

I've fallen out of the D3.
When I first got it I was driving into the carport at night, thought I was going to Access but pushed the button the wrong way.
When I went to get out I ended up in a heap on the floor, only pride damaged & SWMBO could not figure out why I was laying on the carport floor laughing.
BTW I've also whacked my shins getting in after jacking the D3 & it has gone to extended height sometime during the process.

That's good and well for people who don't mind the harsh ride provided by the increased spring rate up high, or don't plan to travel faster than 25km/h where the bounce from imperfections in the road throws the vehicle sideways!

Same applies for anyone wishing to wear 265/75's or larger. You cannot fit larger tyres to a P38 without 2" underneath it!

Hard Range did a kit, sadly they don't exist any longer!

I'll stop stealing your thread now :-)
