I have been running my arkpak through a Anderson plug through the back seat, using drivesafe's c-80 thingy me bob....
Every so often the car won't start , no lights no turn over nothing,
A quick jiggle of the earth and boom no problems ...
Obviously A bad earth !!!!!
Here are some photos...
Could someone recommend a better earth

surely that earth couldn't be the cause of not starting, that would mean that the amp's draw to the starter would have to travel through that small earth.

It must be as it seems to work with a wiggle.....I think it shorts it out when the clip I
Have used touches something else. I need to find a proper earth .....ideas .

Herrblick, I just fitted a USI 160 from Drivesafe over the weekend. I have fitted an auxiliary battery next to the starter after making up a new battery tray and hold down clamps.

The earth point.

I have previously fitted a Tekonsha brake controller which had to be fitted directly to the battery with a 30 amp circuit breaker on the Pos side. This was wired in with 6mm dual core wire. For the negative (earth) I ran some 6mm from the chassis earth bolt (the same one the starter battery is earthed to and then goes onto the gearbox). This 6mm cable I bought into the battery compartment and mounted a single 8mm power stud (basically an 8mm stainless bolt encased in nylon/plastic which I riveted to the side wall. This was my earth point for the brake controller and I also used this for my USI 160.

Hope this makes sense, it was easy and gives a good earth connection.

Hi herrBlick, from this thread and our phone conversation today, Pardon the pun, but we had our wires crossed.

Don’t worry about that earth in your pictures, it’s just for the SC80 and has no effect on your vehicle’s ability to start.

As your problem is temporarily solved by wiggling your wiring, you need to look for a loose connection and/or earth point.
