You might want to duck for cover mate for not searching.....there it's lot of info on this site about them.
Most prefer remaps.
I would search, and you will find heaps of info for both.

As already said......the only type of chips you want to put in a D3 come from Maccas. ;)

Hi Bigmac,

I got my 2009 D3 2.7 done (remap) thru Davis Performance in Sydney and was very happy. Noticeable increase in power, acceleration especially from 90-100 km when overtaking. Better fuel economy too.

from memory about $800 but that was 2012, but you get it for good meaning that if you take your disco into LR for a service and they do a complete software upgrade and resets to original mapping they'll reset for you no probs.
I had my D3 in for a few warranty items which involved them hooking it up to the EM computer and it either didn't show or they didn't notice as i never lost the remap

Go for a map.
BAS or Superchips bluefin would be my suggestions.

Hey Bigmac, I chipped my Disco 3 here in Mackay thru Land Rover Spares, yep worked GR8, I pull a 24ft Caravan n man did it boogey with outstanding fuel economy. Graham & Mellissa are great to deal with. G can be a wee bit abrupt at times but really knows his DISCO'S

Would go either BAS or Bluefin.

Superchips – petrol and diesel engine tuning, ECU remap software for maximum driving pleasure. (http://www.mybluefin.co.uk/)

You will be able to tune from BAS via Cloud

BAS Performance Remaps. Landrover tuning at its best! (http://bellautoservices.co.uk/)

BAS will tune to your needs and wants - fully customised.
Between the 2 if there is a choice, I'd go the BAS over Bluefin.

I know of a couple of D3 owners who have had to take Blufin off their cars as it caused issues - not sure what other than they removed them.

I have a BAS remap and it is fine - you need to buy there programming hardware but if you already have a full on Fault Mate I under stand it can do the programming once you get the map from BAS.

Never had a problem with mine (bluefin). I know there were issues with the D4 2.7.
Superchips will send you another map if you don't like the one you have.
