I am gradually working my way through the shortlist of minorjobs to do on my GS Perentie, one of which is to try and adjust the driver andpassenger side mirrors.
The passenger’s side mirror head and arm assembly “jumps” onwhat I assume is an internal spring in the vertical column of the mirror base past what I'm guessingis a detent notch into it’s closed position against the truck body in any sortof wind gust on top of travelling speed. When this happens I get a good view ofmy hands on the steering wheel but not much else. I was hoping there may be ameans to tighten the spring tension (?) with the mirror instu to assist thehead and arm assembly to stay in position. If it has to come off for a strip-downso be it, but AFAIK this will mean supporting the door and removing the outerleaf of the upper door hinge in order to access the mounting screws, which Irather not do un-necessarily.
The other issue is the driver’s side mirror who's head slowly declines down whentravelling so that eventually you end up with a good view of the road beneathrather than the road behind. While not onerous to adjust on the go (hand outthe window), I’m guessing the socket part of the ball joint inside the mirrorhead can be tightened against the ball of the mirror arm by adjusting screws inthe base of the mirror head to pull the joint socket harder against the ball.
I've had a look in the parts listing for the mirror assembly, but only the primary components are shown; there are no internal details. I would be suprised if there is not some method of adjustment for the mirror assemblies as an alternative to complete replacement to fix what are minor issues. I was hoping someone may have had the same issues at somepoint in time and could steer me in the right direction as far as adjustment procedures/options. As always any advice greatly appreciated.
Cheers, Dave
