Hi all,
I took out the air filter box today to fit a 3" air intake hose, and checked the condition of the intercooler hose. I noticed that the hose had a wear mark in it from the top of the steering box sector shaft pre-load adjusting bolt.
I will advise the dealer when I book it in for its 20,000km service, however; for now I wrapped the hose with some plastic flexible conduit.

Bugger, thanks for sharing the info though.
I guess I'll check mine as well tomorrow, I seem to have had nearly everything that can go wrong with the newer defenders happen on my car..... Especially with inter cooler hoses.....
How hard is it to pull out the complete air filter box on these new ones?
Any tips or tricks?
Regards,
Mike.

You think LR would have fixed the known problem by redesigning the hose after 6 years,
Taking the air box out is easy once you work out how....
Take the upper fan cowling off and remove the fan,
Take the lower fan cowling off.
You then need to move the air intake ducting so that it comes out of the air box,
Then basically the lower part of the air box can be removed by moving it into the engine bay.

Yeah you would think so. I'm not sure how much the locations of things changed when the 2.2 went in

There are a numbe to things that rubbed or fell out such as turbo shield bolts etc that became a common problem over the years

The 2.2 is reported to have the same problems. I asked my dealer to have a look at it when they did the service and they straight up put in the bracket that ties this hose out of the way. It's a standard thing but you have to ask to have it fitted, they won't volunteer to do it and has to be when the vehicle is under warranty, I'm pretty sure LR have a service note out for it.
