Hi all.
Just recently I've noticed the turbo whistle appears louder than usual.
It's Very Noticeable.

It's only loud when you are exellerating harder thru 2nd gear and more often in low range.

It doesn't sound right.
Any ideas?

Might be that the rubber pipework in your engine bay needs to be replaced.

That's what happened on my D3 a couple of years back - replaced the rubber with silicone and that seemed to solve the problem. I could hear it noticably thru the AC vents which I thought was unusual.

Manifold? loose hoses?

Hi Noogie, when this happened to my TD5 a couple of years ago it turned out to be a broken exhaust manifold stud allowing the gases to escape through a tiny gap. You may be able to see black marks around the area of the manifold which would indicate where the problem is or you can listen with a short length of garden hose to try and locate any different sounds in the exhaust manifold area. The last is impossible to do while driving so is not a good guide if the noise is only audible under load. Cheers, 130man.

Yep, my money would be on manifold stud(s) sheared.

+1 broken stud. Manifold is probably bent like a banana

Haven't you done the exhaust manifold studs previously Mick?

Yes I did my manifolds studs a few months back, but reflecting back I remember he didn't replace one as he said it looked ok.

I'll have a sniff around.
Thanks for your help everyone.
