Wanting to put my Gullwing window in to the Puma today. I look in the box to see no instructions, so I ring the supplier about fitting of the window and he tells me its a simple process of drilling pop rivetts etc, which I already knew but that was for the older Defender as the newer ones are held in differently.

So then I asked if they are have the same window dimensions as the ones fitted to older models and he wasn't sure if it was the case.

Can anyone tell me if they are the same window dimensions and being the newer Defender it will still fit. I dont want to size it up by eye and find out that it doesn't fit after taking out the window.

Cheers.

Mate,
there is no difference between the gull wings between either model of Defender. Its the window removal process thats different as you said.
There are PDF instructions on the Dolium and Front Runner websites if you have that brand of window. Its all really easy and flows well with no surprises once you get started. Although I'd still recommend that you install twice and drill once when you are ready to drill the pop rivet / bolt holes for the gull wing frames

Good luck, You'll love them.

Nino

Just paint the heads with a small dab of paint, or punch a hole in a bit of cardboard slightly bigger than the head of the rivet and give them a quick quirt with a spray can.

I had some black ones but the paint came off when I pop'd them with the rivet gun.. so I recommend doing a test run if you paint them before you fit them.

If you are really keen post some to me and I'll powdercoat them black. Shoot me a PM if interested (but I don't guarantee that it wont mark when you fit them.)

Or for those who don't wear skirts, Humbrol paint (around $4) from your local hobby shop...

If you go to a specialist fastner shop - I'm sure you can get colour bond ones. I bought a mixed pack of 1000 colourbonded coloured rivets for $5 from a fastener shop in Dandenong just the other day.
