The Bridgestone 265 60 18 AT D697 seem to be the latest tyre of choice.
Slightly taller but still legal in all states.
Will not affect speedo r rub.
Are Light Truck ratted so stronger etc.
Plenty of good feedback on here.

I'm running Mickey Thompson STZ on 2.7 TDV6 D4 - very happy with them so far. :D
They're also Light Truck rated.

Try a Bridgestone tyre centre, it's a deal if you buy 5 tyres.

Another vote for them here, I have had mine on for 6 weeks, happy so far. I also tossed up the Geolandars as an option also - went for Bridgestone as they were LT rated and due to the good reviews on here.

Having had d694 and d697 in the past I highly recommend them.
For those of us stuck with 19 inch rims what options do we have?

I am running at present General Grabber AT'2, There is also a newer variant which is just the AT. I have been using GGAT'2 for nearly 10yrs now & have no issues with them, tho' others on here have fallen out of love with them.
I have had on the D4 originally the MTZ, but my wife hated them so we compromised & went back the GGAT'2.
I also see Mickey Thompson has a new player. ATZ P3....but only a 275/70/18 Ah well..Sorry.
Hmm the 17's seem look like a good fit tho' for me....;);)

I just fitted a set of Cooper Zeon LTZ's in 255 55 19.
Seem to be OK on both wet & dry bitumen.
Seem to be a little firmer than the GG's.
I am happy that the GG AT harmonic vibration noise has gone.

What are the D697's like in the wet and after they have a few thou on them.
I had duelers on my first D1 and they were good until I got about 40 thou on them.Had to take it real easy in the wet,but they were still fine in the dry.
cheers

Got the D697s on this morning, got an extra discount too, $350 per tyre including fitting and balancing and free rotation every 5000ks:BigThumb:
Thoughts from the 45k drive home, very quiet compared to the GG AT2s, good wet weather grip.

Jax kensington nsw, best price great service.
they won best 4wd tyre of the year several times for good reason
Would not buy anything else.
The cooper ATR on the car when i bought it let me down on the Hume.
Rt rear delaminated at 110km/hr, thank goodness for DSC and self levelling!

Another dumb question:angel:
Why do many tyres have two load ratings, mine have 116/119 on them.
Are the different load ratings at different pressures?
PaulGOz
29th March 2014, 08:25 PM
I believe the two load ratings are for different scenarios. One should have an S with it which means when used on steering wheels that is the applicable rating it is normally less in this situation. This is no big issue in a fully loaded D4 etc as they have most of their weight over the rear axle.

If you've purchased an LT variant you're doing well...

Usually the two ratings are for when used singularly or dual.

Close but not quite...
It's a Single / Dual configuration rating.
S identifies the single configuration rating on some tyres

Thanks guys,i asked a tyre guy about this the other day and he had no idea:(
Mine have no S on them,so is the lower rating for the single use, higher for duals or the other way around?

Just for the record the D697 is now available in 2 different LT versions for 18".
LT265-60/18 is barely over stock 114S rated
LT285-60/18 which is 1" larger at 31.5" and is 116S rated
These D697s have a very strong tread area and strongest sidewall of all alternate brands in these sizes.

We have no6 on at the moment and I wouldn't call them all terrain - great on the bitumen but would be like .... on a bull in the mud. Went okay in the sand.

The higher rating is for single use - Yoko ATS LT245/70-17 has wording re max loads and pressures for when fitted as singles or duals. I assume this is because when used as duals there are extra stresses imposed by the presence of the other tyre, eg no load equalisation over bumps.

After a lot of searching, this explains the reason for two load ratings pretty well.

Just after some opinions on the scorpion zero offroad. 99% of my driving in on road, however I do like to got out 2/3 times a year, to high country or otways mostly. As such I'm interested more in a passenger type tyre, but don't want to be holding up the convoy by needing to get snatched every 5 minutes on the odd occasion I do head offroad.
I've decided on pirelli but not sure whether to go the ATR or zero. Anyone have any experience on the zero offroad (thinking snow/ruts and rocks, no mud)??

A D4 on ATRs did Mt Airley with us a couple of weeks ago, went fine, did everything we did on KM2s, and these were 19s not 18s.

My last set of scorpion Zeros (2 sets of tyres ago) were pretty good. Excellent onroad and gave me no probs off-road (I am not hardcore) no flats or damage but they wear out fast. ATR are preferable for regular adventurous outings but you can go a surprisingly long way (carefully) on Zeros.
