Are you sure its definitely the clutch?

Couldn't be the stub shaft between the gear and transfer boxes?

I can't find Bartonville on Google Maps, either. We might need GPS coordinates!

Bairnsdale is closest. Might be master or slave

Closest to where? If you are in Harrietville, Wodonga is 90km closer.

I am unable to locate Harriot or Bartonville.

Been out of reception for a fair while. Now in Bairnsdale...iPhone invents it's own names on me!!! After 6 mechanics found one bloke who put himself out to fit me in.

Clutch wouldn't disengage, so start in gear, match revs, etc. clutch master and slave seem fine, and no fluid loss. The problem is not consistent. Its perfect sometimes and won't disengage others.

Suspect a bit of broken clutch spring or similar floating around the clutch housing. Start pulling it out tomorrow & mechanic happy for me to assist. I'll learn a bit more and update later.

Thanks for advice offered

Likely is the friction plate damper springs fallen out .:(, if the hydraulics are OK I would say this is the issue. I have picked a few springs out of these in the past:mad::mad::mad:

Can anyone advise the procedure for gear sticks removals in puma please?

Many thanks to Steve, Josie and Dan of CarSmart in Bairnsdale VIC. They had more work than they could poke a stick at, but after not being able to find anyone else to do it, offered to do it next day.

He diagnosed the problem straight away and had the clutch out in 2.5 hrs. Good bloke, good mechanic and lots of experience.

A couple of photos of the clutch problem...

Hey Brid,

Good to see it's all sorted & going again.

What type of clutch did you put back in, genuine or after market ?

Was there a heavy duty option available ?

Cheers

It was supplied through Repco (included new slave cylinder, etc). I asked if it was HD...not sure but one favoured by ARB the mechanic told me, so hopefully.
