I guess its because you have taken time getting the milage up.....

Mine was changed around 54,000 I think never had another issue after that

Bastards:mad:. I got no help here with the same issue with a customers vehicle, but then again no surprises as he long ago deserted dealer servicing....I got the 'way out of warranty mate, forget any help from us " spiel. (130,000km, 2008 model) even though I brought up the same TSB's and everything, even pics of the bore, piston skirt etc etc still no dice. IMO definately a bore lube issue as no damage anywhere else in the engine, zip.

Rebuilt 2.4, upgraded PCJ's, and $7500 later all is well again...:mad::mad:

Glad you got some help though spud !:)

Great, something else to keep me from sleeping tonight. Now my engine is waiting to self-destruct. Not much hope of LR copping any bills for me if this happens I think, 2nd owner and 160,000km.
I decided to move to a diesel vehicle for the reliability and longevity. There goes that bubble!

All things considered I am happy with the outcome. If I'd known about the bulletin alarm bells would have probably started to ring earlier. It is only when the knocking got very bad I started to worry and connect that to the high oil consumption and relatively high smoke reading in 2012.Once I had been notified of the bulletin I started on my case with Land Rover. Being fair to them and the dealer it was dealt with fairly quickly. If I'd complained within the warranty period I could have got it done then but the noise was not that bad. I only noticed how bad it was when the second Puma arrived and I had something to compare it to. Comparing like with like convinced me that I had a problem with noise, oil consumption and emissions content.
Anyway fair play to Land Rover who are giving me a new engine so there is hope for anyone who might find themselves in a similar situation.
