Thought I would start the thread off, I'm sure Harry will fill in some more details.

This was my first trip in the S3 (with all four wheels attached);)
Started off well from home heading to Beaudesert to meet at Maccas. Got about 10 mins out of Beaudesert and she started to make funny noises. When we got out at our meeting point and I opened the bonnet there was some bubbling going on. The radiator was missing quite a bit of water. After some discussions with the other club members it was decided to re-enforce a few bits of piping and we upgraded the radiator cap to 15PSI as we thought it was coming out from the cap.
I managed to make it to Rosevale but the overheating problem was still happening but at least it was heating up the water and it was going into the overflow bottle and not out of the cap.
After some discussions over a few beers we decided to remove thermostat and see if that made a difference.
The journey home was slow and the overheating problem persists despite removing thermostat. I flushed radiator out yet again but it looks like I may have to resort to purchasing a new radiator, have to see how it goes.

Here are some photos.
Heading in convoy from our lunch stop to Rosevale.

As usual, a trip not to be missed. This should be one of our 'gold star' events on the calendar.:twobeers:[thumbsupbig].
My second skinfull and no less thoroughly enjoyed it than last year.

I must say the company was outstanding, a great bunch of LR tragics.

I did mention, that because the event is named after the series folk and celebrates the marque, there should be a rule that for the duration of the trip, series' are only allowed to be started by crank handle or push! :tease:

Weren't the meals huuuge! I had to really force my last chip down.

Thanks to all who made the journey and see ya all next year!

we did have a good run and an enjoyable dinner.
shepp had his overheating problem and winks new baby driven by the previous owner decided to play funny buggers and went home on a tilt tray to save it from further problems, I hope they are both easy fixes.

I towed the camper trailer behind my little car and found a couple of hills out of creek crossings were a bit much for the old girl and found I had to enlist the low range function,
on one of those quick get it into low range and first saw me find reverse, boy don't they go backwards quickly when you think it needs the berries to go forward, guy managed to find his reverse fast enough to escape!
I think I will have to swap the original gearstick back into it as the reverse lockout isn't very good, far to easy to find reverse...

the trip home following ralph was good and we were shown a new way with some back to first hills which gave me confidence to try the hill out of Canungra, made it over in high second, which was fine.

thanks all for a fun trip.

only two complaints from the boss, no pie lady at rosewood -- where is she? and I drive too fast,
it can do 100, so why not do it, I say.

thanks for the photos shepp.

Well the RACQ man was right. Head gasket blown between cylinders 3 & 4. Got some photos of it that I will put up when I get them loaded.

Will see if I can get a new gasket tomorrow.

Tim.

Had a great time cruising through the back blocks of Beaudesert, Amberley, Rosewood and thru to Rosevale. Had to lock the front hubs in a few time on all the dirt tracks after drifting around a few corners at speed. Set up camp with a tarp and a swag, utilising the tailgate as a kitchen table. Had a terrific dinner at the pub, followed by a few more bottles of red at the table and around the camp fire. Cruised home Sunday morning (Ralph went like a freight train) to the wife who wanted to go for a cruise on the bikes, so it was back out again and we ended up near where from whence I had just returned (or 20 km away). Had a nice lunch at a cafe, were about to get back on the bikes to come home when a storm as big as I have seen for quite a while hit with a vengeance. Waited out the storm with a couple of coffee's and cruised home following the storm but not actually riding in it which was a stroke of luck. All in all, a very enjoyable weekend away and I was very impressed how Ralph went. Great bunch of people (as usual) and looking forward to the next one.

It was an interesting run home, I hadn't run that one before and with the camper, was back into second on most hills, Ralph goes well and is really strong on hills.
I would like to run again without the camper and have another petrol engine 2 or2a on the run. Looking forward to duck creek
