So, the TD5 was parked up for 3 months in Uganda as I was in PNG.


Drove it from its storage place and the brake failure light came on, and yes the brakes were very spoungy.


Got home.....just and saw that huge amounts of brake fluid were leaking from the rear near side. Next morning ATF was also all over the place, as was diesel from the FPR, and then add insult to injury large amounts of engine oil were dropped on the drive way, the sump gasket appears to have given way.


This is a 2004 TD5. My wifes 1997 Pajero Oi leaks zilch.


I'm beginning to hate my TD5 ES with all the bling. My wife loves it. The V8 ES in PNG which is 5 years older.............leaks nothing.

does sound like a very bad day! :o Have not heard of those all chucking the towel in together. I think it is punishing you for leaving it in a dark shed for so long! :D You sure you havent skittled some chinamen on 1 of those winding mountain PNG roads?
Look on the bright side, all the normal bogey men common to Disco's can be done with 1 swoop now! :D

Yes correct, hot and dry since December but now moving into the first of two wets.


The entire brake line was replaced by the local Landie Indie, (ex military Ugandan) who interestingly has offered a kit modification for the gear box that has a dip stick incorporated, (auto). I'll report back but has anybody heard of this?


Anyway new brake line fitted and system bled AU$110, sump to follow along with FPR.
