How long do I have to buy a Perentie?

So I'm new here and haven't quite found my way around the forum yet. It seems slightly selfish of me to start a new thread but I had a search and couldn't find the answer I was looking for.

Anyway. I'm wishing to buy a Perentie (Soft Top Cargo Variant) but need some time to save enough spare $$$. The main question is how long do I have to get one from the auctions? I'd probably be looking for a VERY low KM example (<20,000km) if possible.

Does anybody know how many in total are up for grabs? How many have already been sold? When the auctions will be wrapping up?

I'm in Brisbane and would like to inspect before I buy. A bit of a stretch but does anybody know how many are going through Hamilton? (I could buy one through Minto but would be sight unseen and I'd have to organise Interstate movement unregistered, Airfares ect.)

I'd be willing to have a bid of about $10,000 (which works out to be about $12,700 through Graysonline with Buyers Premium, GST, Duty, 12 months QLD Rego etc.). From the auctions I've followed I think this is reasonable for the vehicle I'm looking for.

Any answers to these questions would be appreciated

Relaaax, dab. You have plenty of time. Literally several years worth of auctions. G-Wagens are ugly ... uh ... I mean expensive, so the army will be spreading out the upgrades.

Learn from the Gurus here (as I am doing), and all will become clear.

You can't test drive at auction, but you really should inspect before bidding. Perhaps use the resale market as an opportunity to test drive? Just so you know what you are getting in to. Who knows? You may even find one for sale post-auction that fits the bill!

There's about 3000 Land Rovers all up. We spoke to AFM at the Vic 4WD Show and they said they will probably be selling them off for at least the next two years, so there'll be plenty of opportunity to pick something up.
Also, you can expect a lot of them to show up in the second hand market as a lot of people are buying them as a novelty, not realising they don't have power steering, sound deadening etc etc
I'd expect in a year or so, when there's a lot on the second hand market, this will drive the auction prices down also.

Regarding your "VERY low KM example (<20,000km)" requirement, don't worry about an Isuzu engine having more Kms on it, even 100,000km is considered low kms for these engines. They are an industrial grade engine, the same as in Isuzu trucks, and they're designed to go for many hundreds of thousands of kms. There's a couple of members on here who have approx 750,000 and 950,000kms on the original engine. While these sort of figures are exceptional, you can easily expect 500,000kms or more with 'normal' maintenance. As with most 'basic', well built diesel engines, they like clean air, clean fuel and clean fresh oil.
