One of our commissioning laptops decided to spit the dummy today, taking with it a week's critical work. The WD 500GB SATA drive now comes up (when plugged into my home desktop as a 3rd HDD) as file system RAW.
Any suggestions on how to recover files from this drive would be very much appreciated.

Not a good start................their site is down.
Access denied for user 'apache'@'localhost' (using password: NO)
Typical of my luck in these matters!

I hit "buy now" and get the error.
Mind you I am one of the few people on the planet still using (apparently) IE...........

Okay. Got Data Rescue (demo) loaded and it can see the drive. A quick scan produced nothing but a deep scan wants 37,000 hours to run. After 4 hours it did find 54MB of files, but in Demo mode it'll only scan, not recover.
Ho hum....probably easier to send the boys back out to site for a couple of days.

That's only about 4 years and 3 months.... tell it to do its thing and go for a drive....

10 days later and we have the files. Using EaseUS demo version it took 8 days to find the files and then (after buying the key) another two to recover 41GB of files.
Seems to have worked a treat.
