I have read on this forum that Bosch wiper blades fit D4
But you need two different ones ( one for the right and a different one for the left)

Can anyone confirm what I should get ......or another brand that will be ok
Thanks a bunch

How long do OEM ones last normally before they degrade? My D4 is only 5 months old and I've noticed streaks when the wipers are on as though there's a bit of dirt caught on the rubber but I've cleaned them so that's not the cause. BTW where do you buy the Bosch sets?

Hi,

The Bosch ones work great. Left and right are exactly the same.

Suoercheap are the cheapest if you have one locally.
They are the same size & come in a set. As said BA550 is the Bosch Part No.

WRT cleaning, make sure you give them a real firm clean with window cleaner. Mine seem to last longer if i wipe them down once a month while filling the washer bottle.

Bosch aerotwins from here.

I've used them, shipping is fast and much cheaper than super cheap.

I use the Bosch ones, the drivers side is slightly to long and clips the windscreen frame... Annoying. You can get the them separately, so I am going to buy the slightly shorter one, can't remember the part number though. (Think its on here somewhere) lasted about 6 month and are showing some wear, so not to convinced but cheaper the oem and just as good if not better.

I had the Bosch ones on till recently.. Found they squeaked quite a bit. Very annoying. Have gone back to LR ones and no problem now. Just my experience!

No it is shorter and more like the old fashioned wiper blades. You can get them from any auto parts store.

I tried finding the Bosch blades, but had no luck in town (regional qld). I could've ordered them online, but seems a bit over the top for wiper blades. I kept reading on this forum that I could get the right blades from repco/supercheap etc... So in the end, I took the disco to the local repco store. They found the right wipers from their standard repco brand in stock (they have multiple adaptors to fit most vehicles) and fitted them for me.

As said previously, the rear wiper is a standard slide in/out (old style) wiper which you can cut to length.

All very easy in the end, and pretty cheap (about $50 all up for the 3 blades if I remember correctly).

And they've lasted 6+ months with no problems so far! :D

I also did the hunt around Supercheap/Repco etc. I ended up ordering online from Amazon. Bosch 22-CA Clear Advantage Beam Wiper Blade - 22"

I paid around $55 (plus postage)....but I got 2 sets instead of just one. That way I have a spare set in the shed for next time. If you know what you want, online can be great.

Given that ordering directly from Bosch Australia costs about $65 plus postage for one set, I managed to get over any "support the local" guilt. Support the local should go both ways i.e. they should support me by not charging double for the same thing!!

Also, it's delivered right to my door and means I don’t have to go to the store, which inevitably has me working out a few hundred bucks lighter and an arm full of stuff I didn’t realise I need till I saw it in store.

Sorry. I should have mentioned that I use a forwarding service. If you set yourself up an account, you get a permanent USA address. I use shipitto.com

If you google "usa forwarding" you'll find a number of services that do it. Personally, i use 'shipitto.com' and have never had an issue. They let you know when the package has arrived and will hold it over if you have other things coming so you can consolidate shipping into one box.

I have bought things like replacement lamps for my video projector, thermarest sleeping mats (at least half what you would pay here) windscreen wiper blades, as well as kids clothes, which are super cheap even compared with target, and very good quality.

Happy for you to PM me as this is really getting off topic as far as D4's are concerned!

+1 for the forwarders have had good experience with comgateway and borderlinx they both have shipping calculators but it helps to know the weight and package dimensions before you have a package waiting at their warehouse ( to avoid an unexpected ransom. )

I just replaced my wiper blades on the D4 and used Tridon TFB22H
Got them from Supercheap and they work well. Think they around the $55 mark.

There is an old TV series called "The Odd Couple". One of the characters, Felix Unger, is in court and has a line, with accompanying written board, that says "never assume because you can make an ASS out of U and ME" Point in case I'd say. I reckon I would have assumed set meant two as well :p

Will do it myself with aftermarket ones.

I've got a major service coming at Southerns, the second major, and the first one I'm going to pay for. Do dealers just change the wipers and present us with a $245 bill unless we proactively tell up front not to. I am happy with Southerns service and want to keep them onside, but $245?

My experience with Southerns is, no. They just tell you on the service report your wiper blades are shot. Up to you what you do from there.

If you need new after market blades be aware the left and right hand blades are slightly different. The left hand blade being a few cm shorter than the right hand one.

Tombie, where did you get them from?

Had a bit of a google, couldn't find where they are available.

The one's on the D4 are shot,OEM,less than 3yrs old.

i need them for the work vans as well, even the good quality ones from Autobarn or where ever don't seem to last long these days.

It's going for 6monthly service tomorrow - I will clarify then. The quote I got was over the phone when booking the service. First time at Southern and by all reports they provide good service. The wiper blades are shot and we are going on holidays next month so they have to be right...

Little bit cheaper than Southern's quote. These are for a MY2011 3.0l - note the different left and right part numbers, so don't order 2 of the same part number.

I ordered some about 1 month ago. Took 2 days to arrive.

I used this company last time I bought wiper blades:

Wiper Blades Ltd. | Suppliers of Quality Windscreen Wiper Blades. (http://www.wiperblades.co.uk/)

Quick delivery and great prices (even with delivery charge). Dont forget actual price wil be less than quoted due to removal of V.A.T.

Confirmed with SLR today, replacement wiper blades front and rear $165 plus fitting. The comment was "we have not been able to find suitable aftermarket ones". Service was prompt, car was ready on time, cleaned and vacuumed was nice touch. Also had wheel balance and rotate, noticeable difference. They told me the lower front wishbone bushes are worn both sides and should be replaced within the next 12 months; $1600 quote. Apparently "common on this model".

Also, (and this may not be suitable for this particular thread) ;) the only thing that disappointed is that I asked them to check the main air filter. They told me it was all good and didn't need replacing. I asked them to check again, so they pulled it out and showed me it was all good. I then showed them the tear this element had (as I knew it was there before the service). I was then quoted $70 for a new element. New element fitted (I figure cheaper than a new turbo or engine).

In my view, it should have been picked up in the report and replaced as standard.

Just my observations

Eventually found a set here, good price, delivered, and way cheaper than genuine.

Quality of genuine is not that good, mine didn't last 3yrs.

Other places have them for Defenders and older model LR's,this place was the only place that had them for D4,apart from Silblade themselves.

Hi Paul.

Did you buy them from British Atlantic and if so did you buy the front pair kit? I notice in their instruction video that they talk about the rear wiper being included but that doesn't seem to be part of what's available. Did the rear wiper come with it? Finally, what was the freight cost? Sorry for so many questions but my front blades need replacing and these look to be a good alternative to OEM ones. My driver side one has had a fault from about 3 months from purchase so I'm not impressed with the OEM version.

Just fitted new blades front and rear to the D4 as the ones on were finished. Replaced them with Tydon flex blades (wiper and aero blade assembly) from Supercheap Auto $34.95 each both sides the same length (550mm). Rear is the slimline 6mm steel back. It is short so you need only to buy a 500mm one. The best thing is that the flex blades allow for fitting std replacement wipers, so the high cost is once off only, replacement blades for these are about $10-15 each. Fitting them is a cinch. I posted elsewhere that LR quoted $175 for the front + $65 to fit. I did the f+r for ~$80 bucks. Just drove across Australia and a decent set of wipers is a must.
