On the rear control arms of my 2008 2.7 HSE D3, there is a bracket that 'hooks' around the brake line:

This bracket is wearing away the outer cover on the brake line, and itself has become worn and sharp:

What's the purpose of this bracket, and is this kind of wear normal?

I presume if left as-is, it'll end up damaging the brake line.

Without that bracket the EPB cable will rub on the wheel and wear much quicker. It popped out of the bracket on my D4 and wore through to the inner cable before I noticed it. The whole EPB unit needs to be replaced to fix it.

There seems to be a second wear point on yours which looks like it has been rubbing on the wheel at some stage in the past. Perhaps someone noticed it during a service and fixed it for you. I haven't noticed mine wearing on the bracket itself but I might have a look and see if it is like yours.
