The most obvious mod is the replacement of the diesel engine to GM's 6.2-liter LS3 small-block V8.

I'm about to do a V8 transplant on a 85 County. I'm paying to get this done. But now I'm tossing up - 4.0 Range Rover EFI v8 - or LS3... I guess it will come down to VICROAD's engineering requirements and cost....

Don't mind the power in this vehicle, but some of the other stuff, interior fittings etc, is a bit "hot roddish" to me, but,...would I love the power?.......ABSOLUTELY.

Bit silly but isn't it,why not spend the time and money on a really clever power plant like a dual charge diesel or compound engine or electric flux motors in each hub that each drive independant of one another, instead of doing what every other shop does and drop in an LS crate motor, that'll be clever. Pat

Is that the one they pulled a cummins 4bt out to fit the v8 in?
Btw the defender at the start of this thread was never diesel. It was nas v8.

The 6 or 6.2l LS is a really clever power plant.
Cheap and plenty of power and torque. Why anyone would bother with something anymore sofisticated is beyond my comprehension.
And just in case anyone is interested I went down to an LS wrecker today. Showed them my wang and they laughed. Turns out it doesn't automatically entitle me to an ls at all :(

I wouldn't give you a LS for showing me your wang either…

I'm in PNG and its not finished yet so it uses no fuel:D
Guys I met and went and checked out before I decided are
1. 10's on highway, light urban. 14's on trip with family all on 35" muds, that's all mountain road/highcountry tracks work in GU with bars front and rear, scrub rails, winch etc, usual fat patrol stuff....37" boggers beadlocked and 500hp tune playing in the snow he reckons closer to mid 20's
2. dude towed 2000l litre fuel tanker, so upto 2t fuel plus trailer weight for earth moving equipment, GU tray with Air compressor welder and stuff on tray that was 4t alone, averaging 15-16's
None of these fella's were the sit on 90 for economy type
