The website also details under "Technical summary" that the newer "Puma" models have; "front and rear beam axles with parabolic suspension".

I am interested in what they mean by that statement?

Parabolic suspension means leaf springs not coil springs, and as far as I know every single Defender ever made was front and rear beam axles:

Ahh, umm, thanks FeatherWeightDriver for the info, suspension design and construction is of a large interest to me, however I was pointing out in my post that they stuffed up in the technical details by posting that about the suspension.....
I guess I was a little bored when I posted my post and have been waiting to see who would reply and what their reply was.....

After reading Wrinklearthurs' reply and wondering what he meant, I re-read my post, it appears that I'm trolling you or whoever else replies, that wasn't my intention, so I am sorry if it was taken that way and apologise if any offence was taken from my remarks.

I was trying to point out that some of the info isn't really correct and was wondering who else noticed a few of the stuff ups that I have noticed and what else I may have missed out on picking up.

Anyways, thanks for the Wikipedia links, I hadn't read them before.
They are interesting to me.

On another note, some of the pictures show 110's with TDI written on the front guards?
Did any of the TD5's ever come out with this feature or are some of the 110's in the pics even older than advertised?

Pure speculation:angel: ...back in the early 90s the US forces bought a goodly number of Defenders with the TDi engine because it runs quite well on aviation kero. They bought them for their special forces who could then use the same fuel dumps as for their helos. some of the ones pictured are LHD. Perhaps they were part of a "long forgotten" "foreign military sale" order which someone has just 'discovered'...:eek::angel::wasntme: like I said , pure speculation!

I am the one to apologise and I was not referring to any members, but more to the fact that World support bodies can waste so much money buying much sort after vehicles and not deliver.

Was those vehicles intended for use in a country that has become torn apart by a war after their order was placed?

Had a quick look at the link, One line explains all, 12 of them are td5 ROW spec so either 07 or special order 08. The suspension stuff up is probably just an employee with NFI ;)
One time an employee of a insurance company said she didn't know anything about cars and didn't know the difference between a landrover and a Toyota landcruiser.:eek:

Agreed the specs of the vehicles don't line up, and the original poster comes with a "history" of spam... ;)

These sorts of 'finds' come up fairly frequently in the UK, they're normally handled by Witham's the ex-military dealer in Lincolnshire as they're just stock released from government storage. I wouldn't say there's anything dubious about the spec of the vehicles, as some have suggested they were often ordered in specifications older than the then 'current' model as they were for use in 3rd world countries where simply the tech / parts required to look after them wouldn't be available. I know the MOD was still receiving 300TDi's many years after the TD5's were released, purely because the 300TDi was simpler to maintain in the field and the army loved them.

Foley's got hold of several 'brand new' 110 station wagon 300TDi's in 05/6 that were released from storage, from memory I think some ended in Kenya after Foleys equipped them for overland camping. When I spoke to them about shipping my car out here in 2011, they had one for sale and it was mega bucks compared to a TD5 or TDCi, purely because everyone wanted the simpler 300 for overland travel.
