The D3 handles like ****. It has more body roll and bump steer than a front end loader.
Is this normal, and what can be done about it that doesn't cost a motza?

It shouldn't. Do you have any knocking or banging when you go over bumps?

How many K's are on the beast & where was the vehicle located.
The vehicle & i am assuming it has EAS still has shocks & will eventually fade.
The D4 shocks are firmer than the D3's, Graeme has been down this path & he ordered the opposite way as he wanted a softer ride.

Air with no shocks.
150 K kilometres.
Belonged to an older man who used it for local transport. (apparently)
Due for a service with a few minor glitches, so will get it looked at then.

My previous was a V8 D1 with upgraded suspension. It handled like a rally car on winding gravel roads. Predictable and responsive. This one is a useless lump, similar to a 1950's yank tank in the handling department. OK on the open road etc, but poor quality back roads is where I like to go.

I'd speculate that you need shocks and probably lower control arms. Best to buy shocks and airbags as a single unit. Maybe other things but at 150k theyd be rooted if they haven't been changed.

I've spent a lot of dosh getting
Mine to stop handling like a 62 laurentian with a broken shock and bald tyres. Now it handles and rides like an air bed on rails. Or something.

I assume you aren't totally familiar with the setup, as the D3 suspension is air springs over relatively conventional shocks.

And at 150k, I would assume that the shocks are past their "best before" date.

They will be completely knackered.

I did a full set in my Dad's RRS at about 125 000km and it transformed the vehicle back to what it should be. Two of the struts (one front, one rear) leaked oil out the air line fitting when left upside down overnight, a sure sign the shock absorbers were leaking.
