You may remember my sorry story
http://www.aulro.com/afvb/d3-d4-rrs/195535-stuffed-engine.html

I had the engine inspected by the local dealer and he took 3 injectors out and shoved a camera down to inspect the combustion chamber.

Number 3 shows vertical scoring the length of the piston stroke, the other 2 still have the original cross hatch honing marks.

I've seen this with my own eyes, it wasn't pretty.

Mechanic said he didn't believe it was my poorly installed filter, probably the wrong oil used some time in the past.

So, no more delaying. I need to replace the engine.

One option I have is a new short motor.

I'm looking for someone in Canberra or Sydney who might be able to do the remove and replace.

Any help would be appreciated.

Heavy scoring of the cylinder wall (in only a couple of cylinders) could also be a sign of foreign debris.

Regardless, sounds catastrophic. Be a good idea to thoroughly inspect top end (valve clearances etc) when you have it stripped down.

Sorry to hear the bad news :(

Wont be stripping it down. Not worth the effort.

Just need a new engine.

It did cross my mind for a fleeting second.

Why fleeting? Grab it and whack it in. Happy days me thinks!

If I hadn't just bought one, that engine and the $11k 07 in Forrestdale may have ended up in my garage :D
