Wondering if someone could cast some light on a recent issue I've had with fuel pump kits from a UK supplier that rhymes with Craddocks.
Ordered genuine fuel lift pump overhaul kit for 2.25 Diesel.
The one that's arrived is quite different to what's fitted originally. The original parts and workshop manual show the same as original.
Any idea what pump the new kit suits? New diaphragm and seal on the left, original on the right.
Cheers!

I've had that problem before. The diaphragm on the left doesn't fit because of the eye-of-the-needle pull-rod, I think they probably fit Holden Red Motor lift-pumps though. The correct one on the right also fits some Perkins engines, so this may help your quest for parts. The pull-rod oilseals are quite interchangeable, the one on the right is secured by the round plate and peened inside the housing while the one on the left is secured by a large thin washer and the big spring outside the housing. My problem was a little compounded by the fact that the pull-rod seal wasn't even in the repair kit!
A Massey-Ferguson pump (for a 175 or 178 IIRC), by the way, has a much thicker mounting boss where it attaches to the engine block and is therefore more resistant to warping and leaking. Also, if you can find an original fuel pump off a Series 2 engine, its valves are not peened into place but held in with a plate and brass screws - dead give-away is a cast-iron cam arm inside rather than the later laminated steel.

remove and replace with a facet pump after planking the hole in the block.

I could fit an electric pump but the old style pumps work ok and should last a while.
Will see what local suppliers have as none of the pumps we have stripped are the same as the service kit. Don't know if it's a coincidence but they have all been fitted to Rover Australia CKD vehicles, maybe they were a different pump to Home market vehicles...
I will report if and when I find something. Just in case anyone is interested!
Cheers,
Andy.

Well apparently there is an early pump and a late pump!
UK supplier has been very helpful but couldn't figure out what I had.
Found this on a local suppliers site;

Will order an early pump rebuild kit of them.
Cheers.
