It is crazy how the law works in that country.

The ironic part of this whole story is, Land Rover actually plans to begin production in China with the Evoque being the first model to be coming out of the factory.

Those that like "cheap" cars do not have to get a LR vehicle, they have the Great Wall available which perhaps has the same "quality" than the pretended RR in the photo.
I prefer an old RRC restored before that crap and at the same time I will not support those who do not respect copyrights laws

I would sagest that those that like cheep cars do not like cheep cars but can only afford cheep cars.
As for the quality of Great Wall, i personally can attest to there ability to hold togeather. I have twice driven fro Yaroslavl to Vladivostok, one winter and one summer, and back again. Total replacement parts, Front shocks, replaced with imported from Germany bullies which lasted 3 weeks longer than original equipment. Windscreen wiper motor ( same as a Toyota)
So Chucaro, how many Chinese cars have you owned or driven???
besides there are no copyright laws in china ( apparantly) in which case it is not illegal. however it may be illegal to try and sell them in australia

1) China has signed onto both major international copyright treaties'the century-old Berne Convention and the decade-old Agreement on Trade Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights, orTRIPS Agreement
2) My opinion on the quality of the Great Wall it is base not on a driver experience like yours is base but on the technical reports which including safety.

So, you are question my post, first with an "apparently" statement and also ask me to do the research for you?
There are several reports, star with the Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP) one ;)
Also Great Wall Motors and Chery vehicles took a hit in Australia in late 2012 when 21,000 Great Wall utes and SUVs and 2250 Chery passenger cars were recalled for having parts containing asbestos.
Google is your friend. :)

Mate, Europe doesnt have conditions anywhere near like here in Australia. Over there the roads(for the most part) are better. The distances to travel between different COUNTRIES, wouldnt even get you out of one of our larger STATES. Yes, i lived in the UK for 18 months and traveled widley through Europe, so i do not speak from ignorance. The Chinese cars just are not designed for the long distances and heat that the average Aussie puts his car through. Tried and true, Rangie, Deefa or Disco.... more reliable than vast majority of "cheap" imports. Cheers cobber, :)

Na i already know the answers, apparently you do not.
Asbestos, correct, Mitsubishi motors. were to blame not great wall.
You should know that ANCAP ADRs is a completely Australian thing, a vehicle that say get a high rating in Europe can get a low one in Australia. And visa versa. Just ask Vauxhall about the manaro. listen to the poms going on about the unsafe Australian rubbish with a crap safety rating.
Or the inability to get the land rover fitted children's seats in Australia, shame!!
But true safety costs. the more airbag you add the higher your ANCAP rating will be.
that a side, a disco 3 being a land rover has a very high ancap of 4 stars but Hay guess what a Great Wall X240 ( the SUV thing) and being Chinese must have a crap rating of only 4 stars
and only for a paltry $40 000 difference

Great Wall suspends sales of Chinese SUV New model pulled from sale twice, Australian debut unlikely. (http://www.drive.com.au/motor-news/great-wall-suspends-sales-of-chinese-suv-20140512-384qj.html)

At least seven analysts cut their ratings on Great Wall and the company said the experience exposed its weaknesses in developing quality vehicles....
In its May 9 statement, Great Wall said it decided to halt sales of the H8 after after customers reported hearing ??knocking noises?? in the transmission system when driving at high speeds. While the company didn't say when sales of the SUV will resume, UBS is estimating the launch to be pushed back until the end of the year or beyond.
The incident ?'reflected the company's deficiencies in research and development in as well as technical management of high-end products,?? Great Wall said in the statement.
??As such, the company decided to further rectify Haval H8 which will not be launched unless it is of premium standard.??

ok so your a pom that potted around the more civilized parts of Europe. means nothing. Some parts of Europe are just as rotten as parts of Australia if not worse.
How ever the EU has higher safety std than Australia.
Russia worse again. There is no motorway from one side of that country to another. is till a 9 hour flight. Or a 5 week drive!
I also take it that you have not been to china? it is just a weeeeeeee bit bigger than Australia, a weeeee bit hotter and a weeee bit colder and a weeeee bit wetter. And a hell of a lot rougher.
Your post was silly

I am dazzled about that, I thought that you live in a country where law and order prevail.
Can someone shed some light on that?

LOL, every 3 months down to Calais, easy trip once you get though the horror of Poland.
Then there was the 9 months potting around. London to France Spain though Andorra, Italy Sicily then back up, ferry to Greece, Austria Germany Holland, Belgium and back to Holland and the ferry back to pommy land. That was the last trip.
The trip previously was the Mongolia china thing.
before that was Europe, but was Holland Denmark, then over to the norslands, Russia Latvia, friggen Poland again Ukraine ( better roads worse police) Germany Holland and back to pommy land.
before that KL, Singapore, Thailand Laos Thailand Cambodia Vietnam, back into Laos to china, across to the territories and then HK, where the 110 was conveniently stolen, ( officially I had to return the 110 to KL) and flew to Dubai then to Mogadishu

So all these Chinese middle-management types will be buying their Land Wind X7s, getting Land Rover/Range Rover badges off Ebay and sticking them on.
However, if Evoque owners start putting Land Wind badges on their cars, then I guess we should just stand back and let Ebola finish us all off.
