This may seem a little weird, or perhaps I saw this somewhere and it seeped into my sub-conscious...
Last night I had one of those vivid, detailed dreams and in one part I saw a guy at a food court somewhere taking photos with a DSLR camera, but it had an attachment rather like a battery grip - except this was a Polaroid instant photo printer. It was integrated into the DSLR so that he could print off photos immediately with the option to zoom and print parts of photos too. He was snapping shots and giving them to people as they came out.
I was trying to work out whether the photo printer was like a small printer, or actually a Polaroid instant film canister. I think it was the latter as I'm sure I recall people watching their photos develop. I assumed the connection from the camera was to some sort of mini scanner that exposed the Polaroid film inside the attachment, then spat it out like an old school instant camera.
My question is - do these or something like them actually exist or have I just made it up?
If I did in fact just make it up, is it something worth pursuing? The technology exists but, like soap-on-a-rope, just hasn't been combined in this way... or has it?
